WAAW Foundation is a 501(c) non-profit organization (EIN 20-8576703) founded in 2007 with headquarters in McKinney Texas, USA. The organization is also duly registered as a nongovernmental organization in Nigeria, Rwanda, and South Africa. WAAW Foundation’s activities advance female human rights and promote economic empowerment for African women by providing relevant education in STEM, leadership, technology entrepreneurship, and innovation. Our programs promote female empowerment through increased female students’ awareness, participation, and recruitment into Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) careers. This in turn breaks the cycle of poverty and promotes the involvement of African girls in STEM nationally and globally.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Grant Writer and Reviewer

Locations: Abuja and Lagos
Job Type: Full Time

Job Description

The Grant Writer and Reviewer volunteer reports directly to the Partnerships & Fundraising Manager and will support in writing proposals for business funding, support in finding funding opportunities for the organization and writing polished proposals to earn grant money in driving the organization's consistent achievement of strategic objectives, and foundation's operations. This position can be one-time or ongoing.

Key Responsibilities

Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the organization.
Research potential grant opportunities that align with the organization's mission and programs.
Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and reporting requirements.
Track and report on the status of grant applications and awards.
Assist with other fundraising activities and initiatives as needed.
Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
Write clear, concise, and persuasive grant proposals and reports.
Collaborate with program staff to gather information and data necessary for grant proposals and reports.
Customize proposals and reports to meet the requirements and preferences of different funders.
Manage the grant application process, including deadlines, submissions, and follow-ups.

Requirements
Academic Qualifications:

Minimum of Bachelor's Degree, with international exposure a huge plus.
Degree in Business, Non-profit Management, or related fields.

Experience:

A minimum of three years experience in grant writing

Expertise & Skills:

Excellent organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to create and implement new systems to keep WAAW running smoothly, while also accounting for different work styles and remote locations of staff.
Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process
Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources
Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Demonstrated capacity to think strategically with experience in complex problem solving, decision making, and critical thinking skills.
Knowledge of administrative skills.
Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills. Ability to critically assess challenges and identify effective solutions.
Flexible, optimistic approach; committed to overcoming challenges.
Flexibility and comfort with ambiguity. Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit.
Strong working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet.
Ability to work remotely, with little supervision, and able to meet deadlines comfortably.
Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to take on a wide range of tasks.
Ability to handle confidential matters.
Knowledge and interest in women’s STEM education and commitment to the mission, and vision of WAAW Foundation.
Ability to work with local, regional, and international partners.
Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization.
