MEAL Officer at Future Resilience and Development Foundation (FRAD)


Future Resilience and Development Foundation (FRAD) is a registered non-profit organization with the corporate affairs commission (CAC) with No CAC/IT/NO/139393 in accordance with the Nigerian Law in 2019. The organization was established with the sole aim and objective to promote social service through community development projects that ensure meaningful access to services for people in need. The organization also aims to build the Resilience of vulnerable populations, especially women and children to create a safe space for them to feel safe, and free from all forms of harm. We aim to reduce illiteracy through various education programs to ensure children are supported to go to school remain in school and become good citizens.

Job Title: MEAL Officer

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Volunteer

Job Summary

  • The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Officer will manage information and reporting processes and products to ensure professional, high-quality communication in an organization's activities and results. He/she will play an important role in improving information management and data quality, and in strengthening knowledge sharing and learning across the organization.
  • The MEAL Officers will also be responsible for full-cycle monitoring and evaluation of programs, developing appropriate methodologies and tools to design evaluations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and assess monitoring frameworks for projects, as well as for funding proposals.
  • Develop the overall framework for project MEAL systems in collaboration with donor and senior project staff, including requirements, reporting, baseline, and evaluation surveys; develop and monitor project management plan to systematically document performance.
  • Facilitate the design of “SMART” objectives, logic models, monitoring frameworks, and evaluation plans during the annual work-planning process.
  • Ensure the alignment of MEAL activities with program goals.
  • Contribute to the development of annual work plans to identify project targets and ensure the inclusion of MEAL activities.
  • Edit content and presentation of all reporting and deliverables before submitting to ensure superior quality and professionalism
  • Contribute to developing and reporting project reviews, assessments, surveys, and other analytic or evaluation processes and products.
  • Conduct field visits for data validation and to monitor the quality and completeness of data sets; coordinate data collection at project sites to monitor program development and ensure timely compilation and reporting of data; capture and document lessons learned; champion the scaling up best practices.
  • Maintain existing indicator tracking tools; develop additional databases and tracking tools as needed to demonstrate the effectiveness of project interventions.
  • Ensure adherence to specific monitoring and reporting requirements.
  • Analyze data for accuracy, flag validation or quality issues, and contribute to system fixes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education:

  • Degree or equivalent in any relevant field.

Experience and Technical Competencies:

  • 1 - 3 years experience in planning for monitoring and evaluation.
  • Computer skills, especially in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel
  • IT literate.
  • Experience in Electronic Data Collection.

Desirable Skills:

  • Proficiency in the use of the Kobo toolbox and research.
  • Previous experience using analysis tools (Excel, SPSS, or Power BI)
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
  • Experience in planning and managing surveys, developing and refining data collection tools, and with data quality assessments and oversight.
  • Proven success in designing, implementing and operating M&E systems from project initiation to close out.
  • Communication skills (English, Hausa,and Kanuri is added advantage).
  • Proven success in designing, implementing and operating M&E systems from project initiation to close out
  • Knowledge of the major evaluation methodologies (qualitative, quantitative, mixed method, and impact) and data collection and analysis methodologies.
