Job Title: HR & Finance Assistant

Location: Kebbi / Sokoto
Job Type: Contract Full Time

  • GHI is implementing the Project for Improved Sustainability of Integrated WASH Services (I-WASH) project inKebbi and Sokoto states in collaboration with USAID. The project components involve integrating WASH-WRM and watershed studies for the associated catchments in the region.

Job Description

  • The HR & Finance Assistant manages project human resources and office functions.
  • He/She will support the Finance and Administration Managers to conduct recruitment, maintain personnel files, and ensure smooth and efficient office operations.

Responsibilities for HR & Finance Assistant

  • Implement recruitment of short and long term personal through collection and verification of candidate documentation.
  • Organize and participate in review of job applications, candidate shortlisting, and interviews.
  • Liaise with local newspapers and other forum to place job vacancy announcement.
  • Ensure recruitment and personnel actions are compliant with DAI policies and procedures, contract requirements, USAID regulations, and local labor law.
  • Support logistical arrangements for project activities.
  • Supervise the booking of travel and accommodation arrangements for traveling staff and consultants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and progressive responsibility in office administration, including at least 2 years in human resources.

Job Description

  • The WASH Specialist will report to the DCOP of the project resident in Kebbi or Sokoto, who is also an employee of GHI but shall equally work very closely with other project staff for effective coordination and communication.
  • The WASH Specialist will, therefore, be responsible for all outcomes and result under outcome.
  • The WASH specialist shall provide senior level leadership in project management, technical guidance to WASH-related activities, including development and implementation of the Project’s WASH strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Effective management and coordination with other project staff, particularly other key experts of the project in the State.
  • Submit monthly progress reports or any other reports as may be required by the project to the Head of WASH services of GHI.
  • Be innovative and creative in the implementation process of the project in the State.
  • Work in collaboration with State government officials with a view to ensuring their State aspirations for improved WASH services in the States are met.
  • Effective coordination and communication with the DCOP in the job location and GHI Head Office in Abuja and the project donor (USAID) on matters of the project that will ensure successful delivery of the project in the State.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science or other related discipline.
  • WASH Specialist should have at least 3 years’ experience.
  • A knowledge and experience of work with or no USAID supported projects.
  • Must have adequate knowledge of the environment, be proficient in Hausa and English Language. Must be proficient in computer skills, especially in MS-Office.

  • Controls Engineer would be responsible for the development of the embedded micro-controller that would interface with both the water flow detection subsystem and the cloud reporting platform.
  • In the role of a controls engineer, you will oversee the production of various types of equipment and systems. An important competency in this position is to research, test, and analyze ideas for possible system and process improvements. Success in this role will be demonstrated by meeting safety and quality standards while driving revenue increases through improved production processes.  

Responsibilities

  • Signal any sign of need for maintenance or other problem with the vehicle to the supervisor.
  • Ensure the safety of all passengers.
  • Ensure the security of the vehicle when outside of the office.
  • Inspect vehicle prior to travel to assure all fluids, tires, wipers, belts etc. are in good working order.
  • Drive project staff to activities and meeting within and outside of the state.
  • Ensure that appropriate staff members are aware of and understand laws, contract/award and donor requirements, and GHI policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance.
  • Agree to drive for extended hours (up to 48 hours per week).

Qualifications

  • Software Engineer would be responsible for the development of the cloud platform as well as the incorporation the geographic information sub-system into the cloud platform.
  • The software engineer will also develop and direct software systems, validating and testing methods as well as directing the company’s software programming initiatives. He / she will also be working closely with stakeholders and cross-functional departments to communicate project statuses and proposals.

  • Mechanical Engineer would be responsible for the design and development of the water flow detection sub-system and making sure it meets the usability, durability and environmental requirements.  
  • Perform engineering duties in planning and designing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of such equipment as centralized heat, gas, water, and steam systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work.
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors.
  • Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process.
  • Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget.

  • The Community Advancement Officer is involved with urban planning, assessment of housing needs and revitalization projects within a city or community.
  • This may include interfacing with zoning officers, building inspectors and land development managers.
  • A community development officer may also work with city planners or municipalities in surveying and tracking needs, establishing plans for implementation, developing budgets and soliciting community input.

Responsibilities

  • Promoting community participation in problem identification, planning for problem solving, implementation, monitoring and evaluation for ownership and independence.
  • Monitoring project implementation by the groups to ensure adherence to the funding conditions and achievement of value for money.
  • Participate in internal / external meetings related to the project areas and communicate well on the outcomes with the line manager.
  • Provide regular updates, reports, success stories and lessons learnt to the Team Leader, at periodic meetings or as requested.
  • Collect and document the data (attendance sheets, KAP surveys, questionnaires of satisfaction, pre post- tests etc) in line with project indicators.

Qualifications

  • Perform regular backups to ensure data preservation.

Job Title: Advocacy & Communication Specialist

Description

  • The Advocacy and Communications Specialist provides overall leadership, coordination and strategic direction to our advocacy and communications work.
  • S/he will be responsible for identifying priority concerns and opportunities for advocacy and communications, strengthening the integration of advocacy into our programmes, raising visibility and influence, and guiding advocacy.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen and support community platforms to provide the building blocks to support community-based reconciliation and reintegration. Furthermore, the strengthening of these platforms is part of a longer-term process to help communities develop the skills to manage dialogue and foster deep listening, which should create an enabling environment for other community grievances and injustices to be raised and addressed.
  • Lead and support the information dissemination through context-appropriate media, to provide communities with information on the rehabilitation, reconciliation, and reintegration processes aimed at increased transparency, proactively managing expectations, and building trust.
  • Monitoring, planning, implementation and management of the relevant grants including the USAID grants, develop work-plans, monitor implementation and prepare donor reports.
  • Participate in the monthly coordination meetings on project implementation, successes and challenges and contribute to the way forward to achieve the intended results.
  • Manage the projects website and knowledge management portal (KMP), as well as its various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linkedin.
  • Provide technical development, support, management, and oversight of all media-related activities implemented under the program.
  • Work closely with technical staff and partners to develop story line ideas and related online content on program activities and achievements.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in communication and journalism or any other related filed.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in implementing community based social reintegration and experience on community mobilization and engagement and social cohesion is required.
  • Ability to conceptualize ideas clearly and concisely in written and oral form, innovative, plan and execute ideas is required.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge in Hausa is an added advantage 
  • Experience with graphic design software and website design highly preferred.
