Operations Officer at Small Mammal Conservation Organization (SMACON)


Small Mammal Conservation Organization (SMACON) is a non-governmental organization committed to the protection of small mammals and their habitat through evidence-based conservation that safeguards local livelihoods. We work with local, regional and international partners to deploy SMACON's mission. We are looking for passionate individuals who are dedicated to the documentation and protection of biodiversity in Nigeria, the Gulf of Guinea Islands, and supporting our network of partners across West Africa.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Operations Officer

Location: Calabar, Cross River
Job type: Full-time
Reports to: Chief Operations Office

Job Description and Responsibilities
Administrative Support:

  • Manage daily office operations and procedures.
  • Assist in planning events and workshops - coordinate transportation, flight scheduling, and accommodation during such events.
  • Oversee maintenance of office facilities, equipment, and supplies, and the tracking of SMACON assets.
  • Schedule and coordinate staff reviews.

Financial and Budgetary Support:

  • Assist in preparing operational budgets and tracking expenditures on specific projects.
  • Maintain records for audits and internal reviews.
  • Support in grant writing and reporting.

Program Operations Support:

  • Work closely with program teams to support field operations.
  • Coordinate with field staff for activity reports and operational needs.
  • Liaise with other departments for their operational needs.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates should possess a B.Sc/BA/HND, preferably in Science or related disciplines.
  • Dynamic and able to quickly learn new skills.
  • Proper business English, punctuation, spelling, and grammatical usage.
  • Ability to lead a team.

Salary
N300,000 - N400,000 / Month (depending on level of experience).
