Operations Support Manager at Malteser International


Malteser International delivers humanitarian assistance to the affected population (IDPs, host communities and refugees) in Nigeria in response to the current famine crisis and displacement in the region since August 2017. In cooperation with a local partner we are implementing a comprehensive project for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).   • As Operations Manager, you will ensure the administrative, financial and logistic systems and procedures in compliance with Malteser International and donor standards.
  • Furthermore, you will ensure that rules and regulations are in place, maintained and adhered to, so that all operational support functions are carried out effectively and efficiently.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise, monitor and support to the Operational Support Team (finance, logistics, human resources) to ensure that all administration, human resources, logistics and finance systems are in place and applied
  • Closely cooperate with the Program Management Team in the establishment of project budgets and budget controls
  • Contribute to a comprehensive monthly report that covers all relevant operational support information
  • Monitor compliance with Malteser International and donor standards, rules and regulations as well as administrative and logistic procedures during program planning, implementation and closure and ensure that they are implemented and adhered to
  • Organize and coordinate support for the Program Management Team in the fulfilment of their duties according to program design and timely implementation of agreed and necessary changes
  • Ensure trainings for local staff and partners on finance, logistics and HR issues.
  • Ensure monitoring visits to the field and partners, if required
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years post qualification experience in financial and administrative management of humanitarian aid and development projects
  • Ability to be a flexible team player and to promote productivity in a pleasant working environment, sensitivity for other cultures
  • Good coordination and organisational skills such as timely follow-up
  • Proven experience in administrative standards and requirements of different donor requirements (e.g. German Foreign Ministry, ECHO)
  • Proven experience in logistics, office organisation and human resource management
  • Prepared to work with limited resources and under difficult circumstances
  • Physical and mental strength
  • Fully computer literate (knowledge of bookkeeping systems desirable)
Conditions
  • Start date: February 1st, 2018
  • Duration of contract: until 30.09.2018 (extension possible, subject to additional donor funding approvals)
  • Salary according to qualification and experience, insurance package, accommodation, return flight, paid leave and medical check-up
