Job Title: Senior Business Analyst

Job Summary

  • Provides strategic, analytical and operation support to the GCE’s office. He/ she is responsible for creating high level data analytics and support of performance measures, data collection, reporting, and information dissemination on the company’s strategic initiatives and projects. The role provides support to the GCE’s office in the strategic development, performance monitoring, and operational oversight of Oando’s group of companies, providing support to decision-making across the organization.
  • Serves as an intermediary between the executives and business units with regards to the company’s priority projects. He/she works closely with senior business heads in the execution and tracking of strategy and is usually present at meetings where he/she makes contributions in the identification of solutions to business priorities. The role serves as the GCE Office Liaison on key projects in line with the company’s strategic outlook. He/she works collaboratively with Project Leads, departmental heads, and managers to ensure the GCE’s office always has an up-to-date status on all group strategic initiatives.
  • The role is also responsible for the pro-active development and preparation of all internal and external presentations as may be required by the GCE’s office for meetings, conferences, and seminars.

Job Responsibilities
Strategic:

  • Support in the formulation and execution of Oando’s Vision, short- and long-term objectives, plans, and policies.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of broad policies governing all aspects of business operations and administration.
  • Monitors the execution of Corporate Initiatives and create templates across organization for tracking and reporting.
  • Develop and manage dashboards for the GCE’s office, highlighting update on the strategic initiatives of entities and may be required to present same to executives
  • Working with the GM GCD, reviews business and project plans, activity status reports and financial statements to determine progress towards attaining objectives; suggests revisions and required alignments to Group and Company goals & plans based on current business realities and conditions.
  • Responsible for organizing and coordinating executive meetings such as Group Leadership Council meetings and Retreats
  • Supports the GM GCD in the provision of key information to various internal and external stakeholders as regards regulatory issues, marketplace needs, the competitive environment, business performance and other pertinent issues
  • Provide timely & accurate information to the GCE’s office in a user-friendly and digestible manner
  • Supports the GM GCD and IRM in the execution of the company’s Investor Relations Strategy.
  • Serve as Project Manager on critical Group Projects and initiatives.
  • Co-ordinates the Group Annual Budgeting and Strategic Planning Process.
  • Takes a significant role in the development and implementation of strategies for assigned project operations.
  • Performs various forms of business, financial and technical analysis; compiles reports providing critical information to the GCE and other key Group Executives for decision making.

Operational:

  • Pro-active development and preparation of all internal and external presentations as may be required by the GCE’s office for meetings, conferences, and seminars
  • Generate dashboards which represent operational data in brief and intelligible format, suitable for executive leadership review and interpretation
  • Providing regular analysis and interpretation of data and trends to support decision making by the leadership team, including text, graphics, and other statistical representations.
  • Trail industry yard stick, trends, and benchmarks, and shares strategic insights, highlighting current and future trends with executive leaders
  • Conduct analysis of findings, identify areas of poor performance and offer action-driven recommendations and insights to executive leaders
  • Create and maintain action points, meeting minutes, meeting schedules, project summaries and updates.
  • Carry out detailed projects studies, in collaboration with project leads and sometimes external consultants
  • Works closely with entity and project managers and their team to identify performance information that would help them, and to identify opportunities in managing their operations effectively
  • Works closely with the communications teams on the publication of information and industry research as necessary

  • Effectiveness of business performance framework or dashboard developed and implemented (metrics & tracking system)
  • Quality of Analysis, findings, and recommendations
  • Quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of corporate and functional plans developed, and the level of alignment with company vision
  • Quality, depth, and adequacy of presentations, reports, templates, investor documents developed or presented internally and externally
  • Quality of support provided to the GM GCD
  • Effectiveness and adequacy of general administration support
  • Timeliness and accuracy of management and performance reports
  • Effectiveness of processes and systems in enabling the business

Qualifications & Experience

  • 1st Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or other related area
  • Minimum 5 years related practical and relevant work experience
  • Unique experience in analyzing and carrying out interpretations by utilizing intricate data sets
  • Impressive experience in designing managerial level presentations and reports.
  • Sector knowledge of the oil and gas industry specifically, although sector knowledge of other extractive resource industries may be considered.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate business strategies clearly and accurately to a variety of audiences both orally and through written material
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability and experience of engaging effectively with staff at all levels providing
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with flexible work hours as needed to meet tight deadlines
  • Must be able to manage projects independently and be a self-starter
  • Must have a strong work ethic, attention to detail and a desire to produce top level results.
