Job Title: Supervisor - Budgetary Control and OPEX Analyst

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  • To ensure accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting through effective cost centre management, robust accrual and provision processes, and proactive business partnership.
  • The role supports informed decision-making by providing detailed OPEX analysis, enforcing financial controls, and driving cost-saving initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Coordination of cost centre review process:

  • Agree cost centre review calendar with budget holders
  • Generate monthly pre-close reports and analysis
  • Conduct monthly cost centre reviews for all cost centres, providing adequate documentation.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of all OPEX accounts
  • Ensure that all necessary depreciations, amortisations and accruals are accurately captured in the account for each period
  • Investigate and report OPEX variances
  • Run post-close reports and extended trial balance for management accounts.
  • Develop cost-saving initiatives for presentation to management, with subsequent implementation.
  • Investigate and follow-up with responsible parties to resolve erroneous postings and raising necessary journals to correct them.
  • Ensure adequacy and completeness of all entries in the accounts with correct classification to location and cost center.
  • Report significant omissions in the account to management.

Ownership and reconciliation of all accruals and provision:

  • Consolidate all accrual and provision schedules
  • Validate all system-generated accruals
  • Maintain and update accrual and provisioning model
  • Reconcile provisioning model with system balances and management accounts

Business Partnership:

  • Monthly OPEX flash
  • Monthly detailed cost analysis by account
  • Accrual and provision model
  • Monthly extended trial balance
  • Ad-hoc analysis

Educational Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience on a similar role
  • B.SC Accounting
  • ACA or ACCA will be an added advantage

Knowledge:

  • MS Office Suite
  • Advanced Excel user
  • Business Intelligence (Additional advantage)
  • Relevant IFRS standards
