Research Scientist Duties & Responsibilities

The role and function of a Research Scientist includes the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Conducting experiments
  • Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments
  • Organising product/materials testing
  • Developing original solutions to problems
  • Teaching.
  • Demonstrating procedures
  • Recording and analysing data
  • Preparing funding applications/bids
  • Presenting results to senior/other research staff
  • Writing research papers, reports, reviews and summaries
  • Ensuring that quality standards are met
  • Liaising with research and/or production staff
  • Supervising junior staff including technicians
