Technical Brewer Requirements, Skills & Qualifications

The following common skills and qualifications are required of a Technical Brewer:

A degree in Brewing and distilling, Chemistry, Chemical engineering, Microbiology, Food science or food technology
Advanced scientific knowledge, in chemistry, microbiology, and/or biochemistry.
Engineering knowledge is also useful for dealing with machinery and improving production processes.
Experience working in a brewery and/or a postgraduate degree or certificate in brewing
Managerial, logistics or business qualifications are desirable
Strong practical skills and problem solving abilities
Excellent leadership capabilities
Modern manufacturing practices, principles and techniques
Project management knowledge
Flexible and able to deal with emergencies
A great communicator and manager
Capable of innovation
Methodical, logical and detail orientated
Physically fit
