Read the mail below:

Congratulations!
On behalf of our sponsors, we are genuinely pleased to offer you a place in the Sweat Your Assets Programme July 2016 cohort! Let me break this down for you.

First, The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) is U.S President Obamaʼs signature effort to invest in the next generation of African entrepreneurs, educators, activists and innovators.
President Obama launched YALI in 2010 to support young African leaders as they spur growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across Africa.

One of the Fellowship Programmes under YALI is The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders which brings 500 dynamic young African leaders, ages 25-35, from across the continent to the United States for 6 weeks of leadership training and mentoring at twenty U.S. universities and colleges. Upon returning to their home countries, the Fellows have access to professional development opportunities, mentoring, networking and training, and seed funding to support their ideas, businesses, and organizations.

Meanwhile, see The 2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship Programme, which is currently ongoing.

For more information on this, visit https://yali.state.gov/yali-africa/

YALI also offers free online courses designed to give you advanced practical knowledge of Business & Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Public Management and Civic Leadership.

Now back to the mail.

A part of it says "The Sweat Your Assets Programme is built on the sustainability strategy of “Paying it Forward” ". And another part says "you must reciprocate this gesture".  This is ridiculous. In essence, you must pay a minimum of ten thousand naira to participate in their programme. Why? This simply doesn't conform to the core values of YALI.

Even if one has to pay, why must it be into the GTBank account of a private company independent of YALI? Is payment a criterion to proceed to the final? The last time I checked, participants are supposed to get seed funding to support their business ideas and not the other way round. I think there are lots of questionable phrases one can make out of this mail.

Given the stated facts and in my opinion, this whole Sweat Your Assets Programme thing ooze of fraud. Attend at your own peril.
