Medecins du Monde or Doctors of the World, is an international humanitarian non-profit organization that provides emergency and long-term medical care to vulnerable populations while advocating for equal access to healthcare worldwide. We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Deputy HR Coordinator Location: Maiduguri, Damboa & Emergency fields Main Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the Human Resources Coordinator, the Deputy Human Resources Coordinator will be responsible for the following main activities in order to guarantee rigorous and transparent procedures and to fulfil the objectives of the mission in the respect of MdM guidelines:
Human Resources Management:
  • Technical Support & Capacity Building
  • Communication; Reporting; Capitalisation
Hierarchical & Functional Links
  • The Deputy Human Resources Coordinator is directly supervised by the Human Resources Coordinator.
  • S/he works closely with the members of the HR team, the Financial Coordintor and her/his team, as well as with the Field Coordinator of Damboa.
  • S/he ensures close relationship with the coordination team.
Tasks Descriptions Human Resources Management:
  • Supports managers in preparing job profiles, in the respect of the classification grid;
  • Supports the accurate implementation of the recruitment process; Monitor fair and transparent its implementation at field level;
  • Ensures contracts management (template update, amendment…) and the implementation in Damboa base;
  • Supports implementation of HR tools (such as database HR monitoring contracts; leaves; etc.), development of complementary tools if necessary and supervises the implementation by all field teams;
  • Ensures the monthly follow up of HR tools;
  • Ensures the payroll procedures which conform to Nigerian legislation and with MdM guidelines and support the Finance Team to ensure timely accurate salary payments in accordance with Nigerian Law;
  • Ensures the application of MDM rules for the national staff (administrative formalities, recruitment process, contracts, constitution of individual files, briefing of new employees, confidentiality of HR information …);
  • Takes part in disciplinary procedures and investigations;
  • Contributes to the definition of Human Resources needs in terms of writing project proposals and any amendments;
  • Participate in interviews when requested to do so by the Human Resources Coordinator, on behalf of the HR Department
  • Technical Support & Capacity Building Team management
  • Ensure the HR database handling on an everyday basis;
  • Explain the MdM HR procedure and tools to staffs;
  • Trains the HR national team on the general HR administration procedures in place;
  • Develop and conduct HR management training on specific topics (e.g. MDM Recruitment Process, HR follow up table, etc.) in order to increase the MdM team member capacities and knowledge;
  • Ensure information sessions with HR Coordinator in order to increase the MdM team member knowledge and understanding on Human Resources, particularly in Damboa base.
  • Communication; Reporting; Capitalisation
  • Participates to HR department meetings;
  • Participates to MDM Coordination team meetings during the absence of the HR Coordinator,
  • Participate in meetings with the Financial Department;
  • Contributes to the Nigeria Monthly Sit-Rep;
  • Elaborates HR Reports and Contribute to all other reports by providing relevant data related to the position;
  • Provides regular reporting on his/her activities to HR Coordinator upon his/her solicitation (coordination meeting, bilateral meeting, etc.);
  • Provides to the HR Coordinator and General Coordinator with a Mission Report and/or Handover document at the end of the assignment;
Qualification and Experience Profile required:
  • Diploma in Human Resources Management or similar education;
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Human Resources
  • Experience of 1 year minimum in a similar position with an I.NGO is required (with MDM is an asset);
  • Experience in conflict or difficult contexts a distinct asset
  • Excellent computer skills in Excel particularly (database management)
Others:
  • Is responsible for the proper use and maintenance of assigned equipment
  • Performs other additional duties on request of the Human Resources Coordinator
  • Informs immediately the Human Resources Coordinator of any misfunctioning
Languages:
  • English: mandatory
  • Hausa and Kanuri: recommended
  • French: an asset
Job Title: Mobile Clinic Medical Doctor Location: Damboa, Borno Supervisor:  Medical Supervisor Duration: 3 Months with possibility of extention Status: full time Start date: As Soon as Possible Main Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the Medical Supervisor, the Mobile Clinic Medical Doctor will be responsible for the following main activities in order to ensure the quality of care in the mobile clinics:
  • Provision of free of charge curative health consultations
  • Admission, weekly medical follow-up and discharge of the malnourished children in OTP program
  • Collection, computerization and analysis of weekly epidemiological data
  • Reporting and attendance to different meetings
Tasks Descriptions Provision of free of charge curative health consultations:
  • Prepare all the necessary drugs, material and equipment for mobile clinics and ensure that everything is ready before to leave MdM office
  • Follow the basic medical rules of hygiene when performing curative health consultations
  • Participate actively in triage activities before to start curative health consultations
Perform curative consultations: Take a proper medical history including:
  • Reason for consultation
  • Duration of the illness or complaints
  • Main symptoms
  • Past medical history and treatment.
  • Perform a correct physical examination:
  • Inspection, auscultation, percussion, palpation
  • Systematic checking of signs of severity
  • Diagnose and treat the diseases according to protocols in use (i.e. clinical guidelines)
  • Write the most important complaints, signs, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment on the patient’s registration form.
  • Explain the treatment to the patient
  • Give individual health education related to the patient’s disease
  • Manage emergency cases according to MdM protocols and regulation
  • Fill in the registration form for each patient, according to the diagnosis of the morbidity surveillance form
  • Check the immunization status for all EPI targeted children and referred the unvaccinated children to the vaccinator
  • Investigate any information regarding unusual health events or diseases outbreak, provided through any source
  • Ensure patient confidentiality is respected and treat all the patients with respect and dignity
  • Admission, weekly medical follow-up and discharge of the malnourished children in OTP program
  • Ensure that all the 6-59 months children have been screened (MUAC, H/W and edemas)
  • Admit new cases in OTP program according to the criteria of national nutrition protocol and give systematic treatment for SAM cases
  • Ensure weekly follow up of SAM cases and adapt RUTF doses
  • Discharge cases according to the criteria of national nutrition protocol
  • Refer complicated SAM cases to identified Stabilization Center
  • Fill in the specific OTP form
  • Collection, computerization and analysis of weekly epidemiological data
  • Perform the daily data collection regarding curative consultations
  • Participate to the weekly computerization and analysis of the medical data
  • Reporting and attendance to different meetings
  • Prepare a weekly activity report to submit to team leader
  • Participate in a pro-active way to MdM internal meetings (medical, security…)
  • Participate to all the trainings organized by MDM
Others:
  • Give suggestions to improve the functioning of MDM mobile clinics
  • Participate to the loading and unloading of the vehicles and to the setting up of the mobile clinics
  • Participate to weekly physical inventory of mobile clinic pharmacy
  • Be flexible in performing his/her duties to ensure that beneficiaries are getting good quality services
  • Perform other additional duties on request of the team leader
  • Inform immediately the security focal point in case of any security problem in the field
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
  • Essential Bachelor's University Degree in Medicine and Surgery from an accredited university.
  • Two years of relevant professional work experience, including in a developing country, in public health and nutrition.
  • Background/familiarity with Emergency.
  • Good command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of Kanuri and Hausa Languages will be an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills and excellence as a team player.
  • Must possess the ability to learn with speed and ease.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, power point presentation etc.)
  • Strong sense of responsibility, methodical and accurate with high organizational skills
  • Honesty and integrity and able to cope with stressful situations.
  • Manages effectively his own time as well as flexible and available to work over time when needed
  • Willing to be deployed to the newly liberated local government areas.
