Animal Nutritionist Requirements, Skills & Qualifications

The following common skills and qualifications are required of an Animal Nutritionist:

  • A degree in nutrition, animal/veterinary science, medical sciences, agriculture, dietetics, animal husbandry, animal nutrition, anatomy and physiology.
  • Ability to undertake independent research.
  • Ability to communicate with clients, customers and fellow scientists.
  • IT and numeracy skills.
  • Animal nutritionists must have a sound grasp of mathematical concepts to be able to calculate food ratios.
  • Self management and self motivation.
  • Ability to write reports and keep good records.
