We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Accountant

Location: Arepo, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Head of Finance / Financial Controller

Job Description

• The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal control procedures.
• The role requires a detail-oriented and analytical professional with strong accounting knowledge, integrity, and the ability to provide management with timely and reliable financial information.
• The ideal candidate should have 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and maintain accurate financial statements and accounting records.
• Manage general ledger postings, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing activities.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS) and internal financial policies.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
• Participate in cost accounting and inventory management to ensure accurate product costing.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting systems, financial controls, and reporting processes.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, payroll, and expense management.
• Support the preparation of management reports, budgets, and financial forecasts.
• Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations (VAT, WHT, PAYE, etc.).
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audit exercises.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) or HND in Accounting or other numerate disciplines.
• Professional Certification: Member of ICAN or ACCA (mandatory).
• Experience: 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or audit functions.
• Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Tally, or ERP systems).
• Skills: Excellent numerical accuracy, report writing, and communication abilities.
• Attributes: Integrity, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and sound professional judgment.
• Industry Experience: Prior experience in a cable manufacturing company or related manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of IFRS, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards.
