Job Title: Biosafety Officer

Job Description

• KIRCT is seeking a highly competent and experienced Biosafety Officer to oversee BSL3 laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with biosafety and biosecurity standards.
• This critical role is integral to maintaining the highest safety standards, minimizing risk, and preventing adverse events in our cutting-edge research facilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement biosafety programs and policies.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with national and international biosafety regulations.
• Train staff on biosafety procedures and protocols.
• Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Monitor laboratory operations to ensure adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related fields. An advanced degree in Biosafety, Public Health, or Molecular Biology is an advantage.
• Relevant certification in biosafety or occupational safety is required and will be a key consideration during the selection process. Applicants are encouraged to include details of their certifications and relevant training in their applications.
• Two references attesting to those skills will be required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a laboratory setting, with at least 2 years in biosafety or related roles. Experience in a BSL3 facility is an advantage.

Skills:

• Strong understanding of biosafety standards and laboratory management.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
