Chief Finance Officer at Novus International


Novus International, headquartered in St. Charles, Missouri, creates animal nutrition solutions for livestock, poultry and aquaculture. Novus operations include corporate offices, research and development laboratories and manufacturing facilities in more than 35 countries, as well as smaller offices with field staff in an additional 60 countries.

Job Title: Chief Finance Officer

Job Summary

  • Oversee all financial aspects of Novus Agro and provide strategic financial guidance to the senior management team and the Board of Directors.
  • Drive Novus Agro's financial performance, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and optimis financial resources to achieve Novus Agro's strategic objectives.
  • Define Novus Agro’s policies, processes and practices on finance and accounting.
  • Define Novus Agro’s policies on purchasing.

Responsibilities and Duties
Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement Novus Agro's financial strategy aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Analyze financial trends, identify risks, and forecast financial performance.
  • Collaborate with other senior managers to set financial goals and develop action plans to achieve them.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely management accounts and financial statements.
  • Conduct financial analysis and interpret data to provide insights to the management team.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads to establish financial targets and track performance against them.
  • Monitor budget adherence and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews.

Capital Management and Funding:

  • Manage the Novus Agro's capital structure and optimize the use of financial resources.
  • Evaluate and recommend sources of funding for business operations and expansion.
  • Negotiate with financial institutions and investors for debt and equity financing, as required.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess financial risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard Novus Agro's assets and prevent fraud.

Investment Decisions:

  • Advise Novus Agro management on all investment decisions.
  • Perform due diligence and financial analysis for potential acquisitions.

Investor Relations:

  • Act as a key point of contact for investors and analysts, providing transparent and accurate financial information.
  • Participate in earnings calls, investor conferences, and shareholder meetings.

Tax and Legal Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and optimize Novus Agro's tax strategy.
  • Coordinate with legal teams to address financial and contractual matters.

Team Leadership and Development Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and develop finance professionals to enhance their skills and capabilities.

Requirements

  • First Degree or Higher Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field (MBA preferred); and; 
  • Professional Accounting (ICAN) qualification.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  •  Financial strategy development and implementation.
  • Sound knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Minimum of 5 years as a Senior Accountant or similar role as head of finance/accounting or similar role.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and an ERP financial management software (e.g. SAP, SAGE).
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices.
  • Familiarity with relevant financial regulations and compliance standards.

Salary
N3,600,000 per annum (Net).
