Job Title: Contracts Engineer / Administrator
Location: Lagos

Direct Report: Contracts Manager / Project Manager or Project Director
Supervises: Junior Contract Engineers / Administrators
Job Objective
- To ensure that the contract conditions for all projects meet clients’ needs by developing, implementing, and reviewing contracts and ensuring that best practices are followed on any particular project, and making all updates available to all project participants
Key Responsibilities
Key Functional/Technical Responsibilities:
- Following a thorough and systematic approach in managing contractual matters between company and contractor and preparing commercial and contractual correspondence during the implementation of the contracts
- Ensuring tracking systems are maintained for all contractual correspondence
- Ensuring accurate and comprehensive Contract records and reports are produced and maintained for Site Instructions, Contract Change Requests, Contracts Changes (actual and foreseen), and any supporting communications or documentation.
- Liaise with PM and in order to prepare, negotiate and ensure execution of all Variation Orders with clients and subcontractors
- Assisting the settlement of the Contract Final Account.
- Assisting in processing insurance claims and vendor back charges with the appropriate Company department.
- Supporting in any insurance related matters concerning loss or damage.
- Supporting and monitoring Company free issued equipment and material from Client and to sub-contractor and potential results of late (or early) delivery.
- Supporting and monitoring Company issued Technical Information, including IFC drawings, specifications and any revisions, to Client and sub-contractor and potential contractual or commercial results of late delivery
- Providing commercial and contractual advice to Project Management Team.
- Assisting in the preparation of all invoices to client in accordance with contract terms and manage the process ensuring timely payments
- Attending periodic (weekly) progress meetings, and ensure that the minutes reflect an unbiased record of the discussions and issues addressed.
- Reviewing and verifying Contractor's Monthly Progress Reports before issue to Client.
- Assisting in evaluation of Contractor's contractual claims, and recommendations for financial settlement.
HSSE Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate understanding of and promote adherence to company’s HSE policies
- Support in ensuring clients’ safety requirements for all prospective tenders are understood/communicated to relevant parties
- Upholding and ensuring compliance with Company’s HSSE requirements and business principles, both within the organization, and with Client /subcontractors
- Provide safety leadership in Contract activities
- Carrying out all tasks in a professional and competent manner with due regard for the health and safety of themselves and others who may be affected by their actions and the protection of the environment
QA/QC Responsibilities:
- Understand/Adhere to the company Quality policies & processes
- Able to communicate effectively in the execution of their duties.
- Understands any relevant procedures contained in the appropriate Quality Management Plans.
- Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system in compliance with ISO ISO 9001:2015.
- Mentors team on quality principles and requirements.
Key Requirements
- Degree in LL.B., BA, BSc, MSc or similar
- Member of the RICS/NIOS/NSE or equivalent
- 8 years+ in contract management in the oil and gas industry
- Preference for experience in Nigerian oil and gas offshore project environment
- Good working knowledge of legal interpretation of contracts, particularly project related contracts with intricate liability and insurance regimes

Functional Knowledge:
- Demonstrated capabilities in leadership, commercial acumen, interpersonal relationships and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Safety, Health and Environment requirements and standards.
- Good knowledge of safety in design & engineering.
- Good Knowledge and understanding of marine and offshore contracting agreements

Salary
N900,000 – N1,300,000 Monthly (Gross).
