Current Job at African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) for a Survey Specialist


African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) is the umbrella organization for applied epidemiology training, programs in Africa. It oversees the Field Epidemiology (and Laboratory) Training Programs (FETP) in 16 countries of Africa. It has been vested with the responsibility of implementing Lagos AIDS Indicator Survey (LAGAIS) in the State. In view of this, AFENET is recruiting men and women with field work experience to gather the Lagos data across the 20 Local Government Areas of Lagos State. We are recruiting to fill the position below:     Job Title: Survey Specialist Location: Lagos Work Hours: At least 40 hours/week Duration: 4 months Terms of Reference

  • Support the day-to-day technical related activities in LAGAIS secretariat
  • Support the LAGAIS secretariat in documentation of survey technical related activities
  • Be prepared to work weekends
  • Be prepared to travel to enumeration areas when needed
  • Work with the data management team to ensure success of the data collection procedures for the LAGAIS
  • Support dissemination of survey results including production of charts, maps,presentations and technical briefs/fact sheets on the outcome of the survey
  • Assist in timely retrieval and compilation of any completed hard copy questionnaires, incident forms, requisite forms e.t.c
  • Full participation in all technical meetings including submission of reports, recording of meeting minute
  • Work with the survey manger and other Survey Implementation Team (SIT) to ensure the prompt day to day running of LAGAIS conduct, following the agreed timeline
  • Any work that may be assigned during LAGAIS implementation.
Key Deliverables
  • Comprehensive weekly report of survey processes and proceedings
  • Reports of all LAGAIS related activities including report of meetings, briefings e.t.c.,
  • Log of activities related to contract implementation
  • Documentation of lessons learnt during the survey period
  • End-of-survey report - Survey reports including fact sheets, technical briefs and full survey report
  • Weekly report on the survey field team monitoring and performance analysis
  • Work on power point presentation slides as training materials and for dissemination ofsurvey findings
  • Trip reports (for trips made during the contract period)
Education/Experience
  • A University Degree in Medicine with an MPH or its equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in HIV/AIDS programs
  • A sound understanding of HIV/AIDS surveys in resource constrained settings
  • A PhD or fellowship in public health or related field will be an added advantage
  • Demonstrated experience in the leadership, design, implementation, management and tracking/monitoring of HIV surveys.
