Job Title: Head of Operations

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • Manage operations of Hubmart retail stores. Oversees the management of stores in all the region via the store managers; drive sales, monitor expenses and achieve profit objectives.
  • Deliver on sales revenue achievement, volume, share; as represented by the Merchandising, Assortment, Pricing and Shelving (MAPS) goals
  • Frequently utilize & analyze data from retail operations to provide insights upwards (to company leadership) and downwards (to the retail operations team) in order to drive better execution.
  • Collaborate with corporate business partners (Visual, Merchandising, Planning, HR, LP, Finance, Store Operations, etc.) to ensure strategies are aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Establish a unified selling methodology across all our stores and for our products.
  • Develop reporting templates and ensure timely reporting of all retail sales, including providing insight on retail issues to Management.
  • Monitor individual outlet performance and request improvement plans from store managers where applicable.
  • Develop people through training and team development initiatives using performance management tools, including: performance reviews, in-store assessments, individual store executive’s development plans & succession planning documentation.
  • Manage expense and/or revenue/operating income budget for the Company-Owned Retail stores.
  • Responsible for driving best-in-class retail execution, observing specific contractual obligations with the company’s partners for their brands.
  • Oversee the implementation and execution of merchandise buying, and retention of pricing plans.
  • Plan, identify, communicate, and delegate key responsibilities and practices to the store and other line Managers to ensure smooth flow of store operations.
  • Provide necessary leadership to Store Managers to maintain effective store staff, which ensures that the stores are operated in accordance with corporate standards, company policy and legal requirements.
  • Work closely with Store Managers in managing the budget while identifying and maximizing sales opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the management team/board

Requirements

  • MSc / MA is desirable
  • 7+ years’ experience in the retail space is required
  • 5+ years’ managerial experience
  • Candidate should have experience with P&L, budgeting and forecasting
  • Able to multi-task and work independently
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Analytical mind and familiarity with data analysis principles

 

 

Job Title: Management / Financial Reporting Accountant

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Duties & Responsibilities

  • This individual will be responsible for managing the entire financial reporting process within the company or organisation. S / He will supervise the finance department in order to ensure effective financial reporting and compliance with all financial regulations and procedures.
  • The job holder will be responsible for performance control activities and financial planning functions for Asset Optimization. Maximizes return on financial resources by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
  • Work with the different functions and businesses within Hubmart to deliver and continue to refine a set of operational and financial measurement indicators (e.g. KPIs). Also provide senior management and shareholders with a good understanding of the business performance and drivers.
  • Work on enhancing integration of processes between Performance Control and other corporate departments.

Other responsibilities are as follows:

  • Prepare a monthly report that is suitable in identifying the leading and lagging indications of the business.
  • Maintain compliance with regulations by forwarding required information to federal, state, and local tax authorities.
  • Prepare and file monthly federal and state tax returns, HMO and other statutory payments, with required schedule on monthly basis.
  • Recommend tax strategies by researching federal, state and local government taxation issues.
  • Identify tax savings by following industrial/business environment trend to take advantage of the tax loophole to reduce tax liabilities and maximize profit.
  • Ensure that the company is in compliance with all the statutory requirement.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for all performance control duties (Performance management and reporting).
  • Create and manage the company’s reporting, on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis, to meet the requirements of various stakeholders.
  • Ensure analysis and various checks on business unit including financial variance analysis, working capital, key performance drivers, capital expenditures, and cash flows are completed accurately and timely as required.
  • Act as a liaison between other financial groups (Inventory Control, Revenue Control, Treasury, etc.).
  • Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiaries, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements for the Company’s subsidiaries and parent Company
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management

Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in Finance or an MBA strongly preferred
  • HND or BSc. in Accounts, Economics or Business Administration and relevant professional qualifications e.g. ICAN.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years cumulative relevant experience with at least six (5) years in Financial Reporting / performance management manager
  • Experience in the retail Industry an added advantage
  • Experienced in creating and working with financial models.
  • Experienced in preparing budget models, SGA detail, CAPEX detail, and presentations during budget cycles.

 

 

Job Title: Cost Accountant

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • Develop and maintain cost accounting system, documentation, procedures and processes.
  • Determine the costs and efficiency of company purchasing activities and business operations.
  • Collect and compile purchasing data for analysis.
  • Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases/received by/from the warehouse, inventory consumption, production loss etc.
  • Analyze data collected, record the results and advise accordingly.
  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, production methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost.
  • Establish standard costs and update them as appropriate.
  • Analyze production costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual
  • Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.
  • Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Interpret financial information regarding cost improvements for management.
  • Forecast and plan future purchasing costs according to fiscal needs.
  • Monitor and recommend ways of reducing production and other operational losses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics etc.
  • Minimum of 4 years proven experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst or similar role
  • Must have a strong cost accounting background and excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
  • Professional certifications in ICAN/ACCA is mandatory.
  • Experience with any ERP, especially Microsoft Dynamics NAV
