About the Role

  • Smartcash PSB is on an ambitious journey to become Nigeria’s leading digital bank, driving financial inclusion through innovative mobile money services.
  • We are seeking a strategic and execution-driven Head of Growth to spearhead our customer acquisition, retention, and revenue expansion strategies.
  • This role is critical to scaling our active user base to 10 million and driving transaction volumes in a highly competitive market.

Responsibilities
Growth Strategy & Execution:

  • Define and own Smartcash PSB’s overall growth strategy (customer acquisition, retention, and monetization) across digital and offline channels. 
  • Develop and execute high-impact go-to-market plans for product launches, market entry, and promotional campaigns.
  • Establish growth OKRs, KPIs, and dashboards to track performance and optimize in real time.

Growth Analytics & Insights:

  • Leverage data analytics to uncover actionable insights on user behavior, conversion funnels, and growth levers. 
  • Implement A/B testing frameworks to validate hypotheses and scale winning strategies.
  • Report on growth metrics to executive leadership and adjust tactics based on market feedback.

Partnerships & Ecosystem Growth:

  • Forge strategic alliances with telcos, fintechs, FMCGs, and MSMEs to amplify Smartcash’s market reach. 
  • Collaborate with regional business units to tailor growth playbooks for local market nuances. 
  • Identify and exploit partnership-led growth channels (e.g., API integrations, co-marketing).

Customer Acquisition & Activation:

  • Lead targeted acquisition campaigns leveraging ATL/BTL, digital, partnerships, and community-driven initiatives. 
  • Drive merchant and agent network activation strategies to stimulate grassroots adoption. 
  • Build viral loops, referral programs, and incentive structures that organically accelerate user growth.

Retention, Engagement & Revenue Growth:

  • Analyze customer journeys to identify friction points and deploy initiatives that improve activation, engagement, and retention. 
  • Work closely with Product, Customer Experience, and Sales teams to enhance value propositions that drive wallet share. 
  • Design cross-sell/up-sell strategies for Smartcash’s product suite (wallets, remittances, payments, etc.).

Qualifications
Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, Economics, Marketing, or related field 
  • MBA is preferred

Relevant Experience  / Functional Skills:

  • 7-10 years of experience in growth, marketing, or business development, preferably within fintech, telco, or digital platforms.
  • Proven track record of scaling customer bases and achieving aggressive growth targets.  
  • Deep understanding of digital marketing, performance marketing, and growth hacking methodologies. 
  • Data-driven mindset with proficiency in analytics tools (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, SQL is a plus).

  • Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
