Job Title: HSE Lead

Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Description

  • The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Lead is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, and environmental policies to ensure a safe, compliant, and sustainable working environment at Bubemi Industries.
  • The role ensures compliance with Nigerian HSE regulations, industry standards, and company policies while promoting a strong safety culture across all operations.

Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Management:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Lead accident/incident investigations and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, near misses, and safety performance.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard identification, and job safety analyses.
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed across all departments.

Environmental Management:

  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company environmental policies.
  • Coordinate environmental audits and inspections.
  • Monitor waste management, emissions, and resource usage.
  • Promote environmentally responsible practices within the organization.

Compliance & Regulatory:

  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian HSE laws (e.g., Factory Act, NESREA guidelines) and industry standards.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors.
  • Prepare and submit HSE reports to management and relevant authorities.

Emergency Preparedness:

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
  • Conduct emergency drills (fire, evacuation, spill response).
  • Ensure availability and proper use of PPE and safety equipment.

Leadership & Reporting:

  • Lead and supervise HSE officers and site safety representatives.
  • Provide regular HSE performance reports to management.
  • Advise management on HSE risks and improvement strategies.

Training & Awareness:

  • Organize and deliver HSE training, toolbox talks, and safety inductions.
  • Promote safety awareness and continuous improvement among employees and contractors.
  • Coach supervisors and staff on HSE best practices.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian HSE laws and international safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and enforce safety standards.
  • Professional HSE certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, ISPON) are an added advantage.
  • 5–8 years HSE experience in manufacturing, industrial, or construction environments.
