Job Purpose

  • The HSE Manager for Construction and Building Services is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, and environmental programs specific to the construction industry.
  • This role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, promoting a safe work environment, and minimizing environmental impact on construction sites. The HSE Manager collaborates with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors to address safety concerns and implement effective HSE practices.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures tailored to the building services and construction industry.
  • Ensure that HSE policies and procedures are communicated effectively to all project stakeholders.
  • Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare and submit incident reports as required by law.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures specific to construction sites, including procedures for evacuation, medical emergencies, and hazardous material spills.
  • Conduct drills and exercises to test emergency response procedures and ensure readiness.
  • Develop and implement environmental management programs for building services and construction projects to minimize environmental impact and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of project sites to identify hazards and assess potential risks to workers, visitors, and the environment.
  • Develop and deliver HSE training programs specific to the construction industry, including topics such as working at heights, scaffolding safety, hazardous materials handling, and equipment safety.
  • Provide ongoing education and training on safety procedures and regulatory compliance requirements to construction personnel.
  • Implement measures to reduce waste, promote recycling, and conserve resources on project sites.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards applicable to the building services and construction industry.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry-specific standards and guidelines.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of VACC project sites, equipment, and work practices to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Document findings and recommendations for corrective actions and follow up to ensure timely implementation.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Salary
Manager 3 (Negotiable).
