Job Title: HSE Officer

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Job Role

  • Responsible for carrying out inspection of workplaces and taking necessary actions to ensure compliance
  • Developing and implementing relevant HSE policies and procedures
  • Conducting risks assessment and developing a HSE gap analysis for Green Africa
  • Highlighting non-compliance of safety issue(s) with assigned Project Manager / Facility Manager and recording discussions inclusive of recommendations with timelines for management’s information and follow-up action
  • Producing status reports monthly and undertaking follow-up on recommended remedial actions to ensure compliance
  • Preparing and issuing HSE information/guidelines to the Head of department as necessary
  • Assisting drafting and implementation of an Employee Health and Safety Handbook, Templates for the conduct of Risks Assessments and any other HSE Guidelines forms for use throughout the Organization
  • Completing HSE Audits in accordance with the OSH Act and Amendments and the approved Audit Plans
  • Performing Health & Safety Risk Assessments at an assigned location - both scheduled and unscheduled
  • Assisting in carrying out industrial hygiene surveys.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher Diploma in any field
  • Thorough knowledge of current health and safety best practices and standards
  • Certification in Behavioural Safety Management will be an added advantage.
  • Proven experience in Health and Safety Management
  • Proficient in computer-based applications used for hazard reporting and risk assessment
  • Have relevant certifications or qualifications as regards Health and Safety Management System
  • Understanding of HSE fundamentals
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
