The U.S. Mission to Nigeria comprises of the Embassy in Abuja, FCT, and the Consulate General in Lagos. U.S. Consulate General Lagos is the Mission’s representative to the Nigerian people in the southern region.

Summary

  • The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Duties

  • Incumbent works as the System Network Administrator; administering, managing and analysis of US Mission's complex network infrastructure of Intranet OPENNET (LAN) and Dedicated Internet Network /OPENNET PLUS (WAN) connectivity;
  • Responsible for implementation of complex network configurations, network architecture / topology, network access controls/security optimization of network resources modification and maintenance of client-server database management systems.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Education Requirements:

  • College or university Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Systems Management is required.
  • The following COMPTIA certifications is required: A+, Network+ and Security+.

Experience:

  •  A minimum of two (2) years experience in Computer Operations, Programming, Network Operations, Maintenance and Repair; or a combination thereof is required. 

Job Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the principles of computers, network operations, and programming is required.
  • Familiarity with the administration of Local Area Networks is required.
  • Incumbents must be able to prepare documents, communicate needs and problems to management when required.

Evaluations:

  • This may be tested.

Language:

  • Fluency in speaking / reading / writing of English is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to administer and maintain Server 2008, 2012, Exchange 2016, Windows 7 and Windows 10, LANs, WANs and Network infrastructure based on DS Guidelines, formal instructions to new users and ability to interface with personnel at all levels. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose technical problems is required.

  • The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
