We are recruiting to fill the position below:     Job Title: Lead Instrumentation and Controls Engineer Location: Nigeria Overall Purpose of the Job

  • Job Holder is required to provide controls and instrumentation engineering expertise and experience input into design and construction of gas plant and related Works.
  • The role will act as Company representative (control and instrumentation) to ensure design work by Contractors meets Company standards and relevant industry codes.
  • To establish and maintain a facilities control and instrumentation installations database
  • Provide input to Integrity Management and Planned Maintenance planning
  • Assist Company Site Representative and project engineers on control and instrumentation matters.
  • Assist construction and commissioning teams with field questions encountered during installation
  • Given the level of competence required for this role Job holder’s technical background and experience must be of a commensurate standard.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Act as focal point/Technical Authority for control and instrumentation engineering matters throughout all phases of engineering design, construction and installation, commissioning and operation
  • Provide control and instrumentation engineering input to other disciplines to assure that design outputs are consistent.
  • Act as Company authority for review and guidance of design drawings, specifications, etc.
  • Act as Company representative (control and instrumentation) to ensure design work by Contractors meets Company standards and relevant industry codes
  • Monitor performance of design contractors and suggest remedial actions related to control and instrumentation design.
  • Assist Company Site Representative and project engineers in control and instrumentation aspects.
  • Assist construction and commissioning teams with field questions encountered during installation
  • Initiate and coordinate tasks needed for project execution
  • Participate in HAZOP’s and other key design reviews.
  • Assist in the development of junior control and instrumentation engineers
  • Act as focal point/Technical Authority for control and instrumentation engineering matters throughout all phases of engineering design, construction and offshore installation, commissioning and operation
  • Provide control and instrumentation engineering input to other disciplines to assure that design outputs are consistent.

  • Shared responsibility for Design, Construction & Commissioning of controls and instrument and meeting the contractual delivery date for 300 mmscfd of gas production
Relationship:
  • Internal: Relevant personnel within project team and Production Team.
  • External: Engineering, design and construction contractors and other 3rd Parties (e.g. NGPTC, DPR)
Job Context and Challenges:
  • To prepare Electrical and Maintenance Engineering for seamless transition from Construction to flawless start-up and Operations
  • Manage safe energising of all Controls and Electrical Systems
Requirements Job Knowledge and Qualifications:
  • University Engineering Degree (Electrical, Electronic, Instrumentation) or European Equivalent (HND/C – BTEC Cert) – Extensive Experience in lieu accepted.
  • Minimum twenty (20) years relevant experience with oil industry design and fabrication contractors and Operators
  • Must have worked in as a control and instrumentation engineer/senior control and instrumentation engineer for an Operator and demonstrate extensive background in projects both design and onsite commissioning Plant
  • Have strong technical capacity in the design of DCC control technologies
  • Must be used to working in a multi-discipline environment
  • Must have worked in Multi-cultural environment in order foster integration in view of envisaged diverse vendors in Project and compact commissioning schedule

  • Be focal point and Technical Authority for pipeline engineering throughout engineering design, construction and installation phases of Company’s pipeline projects wherein terrain will include cross country and swamps.
  • Provide pipeline engineering input to other disciplines to assure design outputs are consistent.
  • Be Project Authority for review of pipeline design drawings, specifications, installation procedures, etc.
  • Where requested, be Company representative (pipelines) to ensure design work by contractors meets Project standard and relevant industry codes.
  • Monitor performance of design contractors and suggest remedial actions to avoid design deficiencies and installation delays.
  • Assist Company resident and/or project engineers with the pipeline engineering aspects of Facilities design.
  • Assist construction and commissioning teams with field questions encountered during installation
  • Initiate and coordinate tasks needed for project execution including surveys, permitting or government reviews, material specification, installation procedures, testing, etc.
  • Participate in HAZOP’s and other key design reviews.
  • Assist in development of junior pipeline engineers.
Requirements
  • University Engineering Degree preferred, HND accepted with extensive experience
  • Minimum twenty (20) years relevant experience with oil industry design and fabrication contractor
  • Must have worked as a pipeline engineer/senior pipeline engineer for an EPC Company and Operator and have been involved in both onshore and offshore projects.
  • Must have exhaustive knowledge of pipeline codes, metallurgy, welding, CP, pigging and end station design, capability to run pipeline hydraulics, particularly understanding slugging avoidance and internal corrosion management
  • Knowledge of pipeline hydraulics, multiphase behaviour and API standards essential to this position
  • Must be used to working in a multi-discipline environment.
  • Good understanding of project management controls and procedures.
  • Have the ability to utilise common software for analysis of pipeline design, installation and operating issues.
  • Sound understanding of HSES management systems and the application thereof, particularly with respect to design integrity and safety.
  • Apt reporting skills with the ability to write well-structured and easily understood reports
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)

  • In consultation with the Project Services Manager, Project Manager: address needs and servicing of Government Departments such as DPR, NCD etc. all as required to maintain schedule in accordance with Government Directive.
  • In conjunction with the Project Management Team, conceive strategies to address, manage and respond to Government issues and requirements in relation to Project deliverables.
  • Schedule, Monitor and participate in Project and Company correspondence related to Government. Advise PMT of interface issues and schedule maintenance update.
  • Prepare and maintain a comprehensive log of all incoming & outgoing correspondences relating to the JV operations. This should include follow up with partners on issues not limited to budget performance, daily & weekly reports, contracting, concurrence, etc.
  • Interface within PMT to ensure smooth information flow in respect of Government and Regulator matters.
  • Monitor and participate in development of Project tender processes as relate to interface with Government Departments.
  • Maintain and challenge inputs to tendering and contracting processes to assure their validity, integrity and practicality.
  • Produce a weekly report of activity highlights, inclusive of ongoing activities, correspondence and tenders journal, digressions and matters of concern.
  • Provide guidance for the Project Manager in matters relating to interface with Government Departments.
Requirements
  • University Degree in Science or Social Science
  • Minimum of 10 years in the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry within a division of the NNPC or working with an Operators in a similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of the NNPC, NCDMB, DPR, State Land an Planning Authority and related Government Parastatals.
  • Broad contacts base in the industry, multi-discipline knowledge of how projects are put together and executed in the Nigerian environment, strong appreciation of how Operator to Government relationships work in the current Nigerian Oil and Gas sector. Good Commercial awareness

  • The role will act as Company Technical Authority for Upstream, Subsurface and Wells delivery to ensure design work by Contractors meets Company standards and relevant industry codes.
  • Job holder should be active in mentoring and developing Staff to obtain a sustainable and competitive advantage for Company.
  • To support development of the Project from design development through to Hand-Over
  • Job Holder is required to provide Reservoir and Subsurface Engineering expertise to ensure Project is continually informed and updated in Upstream and Subsurface matters in relation with Upstream Operator’s scope.
  • To leads and drives all factors relating to Upstream, Subsurface, Wells delivery and (particularly) represents the project in Upstream and OML JV meetings where Project presence is requested.
  • This role requires delivery of world class performance and leadership to the upstream function along with supporting AGPC Stakeholders to ensure upstream engineering competencies equal expectation and business challenge.
