The recent shortlisting of qualified candidates for The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC)aptitude tests coming up soon has generated a lot of reactions from job seekers in Nigeria.
I must also express my grievance over the manner in which NIMC or whoever it was outsourced to (i hear KPMG) reshuffled the preferred aptitude test locations of majority of the job applicants.
It's totally uncalled for, I must confess.
How does NIMC expect a poor fresh graduate job seeker who resides in Port Harcourt to travel all the way to Ilorin, Kwara State just to write a test! Why not Port Harcourt.
Do you know the amount of risk involved in traveling from the South-South to the North-West of Nigeria by bus, with the current state of our roads? I hear most people that chose Abuja as their preferred test location were posted to Niger State.
I don't even want to talk of the cost of accommodation and traveling such distance. Most people will have to get to their alloted states a day before the test and perhaps still sleep over depending on when the test finishes.
Where are they expected to sleep? In trash? or Hotel? Who will pay the bills?
From my estimation, it will cost an average Nigerian job seeker about N30,000 to write this upcoming NIMC aptitude test.
Where do they expect an unemployed youth to get that kind of money! Just for an uncertain and most probably political test.
This is absolutely ridiculous.
Considering the politics in the Nigerian recruitment system, who is even sure it will be completely based on merit. I doubt. No be Naija we dey again. I wonder how many slots that are left for candidates on merit! Perhaps 10. Lol.
I weep for our beloved Nation, Nigeria.
In a bid to help one another, please if you reside in any of these Test states, I urge you to drop a comment below stating how to navigate and find the test location. This will go a long way in helping others who might not be conversant with the states they were posted to.
You are also free to express your feelings here, if that will make you feel better.
As Government no wan help us, make we help ourselves now.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors.
