Outreach Coordinators – Clubfoot Project at Health and Development Support Programme (HANDS)


Health and Development Support Programme (HANDS) is a homegrown Non-Governmental Organization that is officially registered in Nigeria. It was founded in 1995 with the primary goal of supporting the National Onchocerciasis Control Programme in Nigeria as CBM Onchocerciasis Control programme. Over time, HANDS has broadened its scope to encompass various initiatives aimed at improving public health, fostering development, and providing emergency services. HANDS envisions a quality life with equal opportunities in an inclusive society. The organization collaborates with communities, government agencies, and developmental organizations to achieve its objectives. The organization is active in the FCT and multiple states across Nigeria, focusing on controlling and elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), preventing blindness, promoting disability inclusion, offering clubfoot treatment, and providing reproductive health, gender mainstreaming and emergency response services. HANDS' headquarters is situated in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Outreach Coordinator – Clubfoot Project

Locations: Bauchi, Kano, Lagos, and Nasarawa
Employment Type: Contract

Bsc/HND in Sciences or any relevant field
Reports to: Project Manager
Key interfaces: DID Manager, HR Officer, Admin Officer

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implementoutreach plans, LGA micro-targets, and weekly itineraries aligned with clinic capacity and supplies.
  • Build partnerships with State Ministries of Health and strategic ministries (Information, Women Affairs, Education, Religious / Chieftaincy Affairs) to formalize referral pathways, integrate screening in Reproductive, Maternity, Newborn and Child Health (RMNCH), Antenatal Care (ANC)/immunization, and secure MOUs.
  • Coordinate IEC/radio/social media campaigns, outreach days, and screening events; orient and supervise CHEWs/volunteers on identification, counseling, navigation, and follow-up.
  • Track leads, referrals, enrollments, and default rates; maintain dashboards; submit timely weekly/monthly reports and use data for course correction.
  • Organize permits, logistics, and activity budgets with Admin; support HR on short-term mobilizers; ensure safeguarding, inclusion, data protection, and security compliance; represent the project at TWGs.
  • Engage LGA health authorities, PHCs, maternity/newborn units, and private providers to institutionalize early identification and referral.
  • Meet and mobilize traditional and religious leaders, Ward Development Committees, and community influencers; deliver dialogues and awareness on free/affordable clubfoot treatment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • 5+ years in community health outreach and government engagement (North-East, North West, North Central and South Westexperience preferred).
  • Strong advocacy, facilitation, SBC, and basic M&E skills; proficient with Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Fluency in Hausa; Kanuri an advantage for North East, North West and North central and for Lagos Yoruba as an added advantage.Willingness to travel extensively across assigned states and work some evenings/weekends.
