Duties
Basic Function of the Position

  • The Community Liaison Office Assistant serves all USG employees and family members stationed at Post.  
  • The Community Liaison Office Assistant (CLO Assistant) assists the CLO Coordinator in the development and management of post programs to maintain high morale of community members.  
  • S/he identifies needs within the post community and responds with effective programming, information, resources and referrals.  
  • Additionally, s/he works under the loose supervision of the CLO and interact independently with CLO clientele to develop CLO materials/programs, and to generate ideas for CLO events.

Requirements

  • Education Requirements: Completion of Secondary School or received high school diploma is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of secretarial and administrative experience is required.
  • Job Knowledge: Knowledge of proper and efficient secretarial and office management procedures as practiced by the U.S. Mission Nigeria is required.
  • Evaluations: This may be tested. Please specify in your application your level of proficiency in the language listed.
  • Language:  Level IV (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing in English is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, use of PC, and the ability to type 40 wpm is required.
  • Effective communication and strong organizational skills is required. Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and work on several tasks jointly is required.

  • Basic Function of the Position - The incumbent is responsible for developing and managing a program based on community demographics and post-specific needs.  
  • Development and implementation of program that has direct impact on post morale and affects overall work performance, productivity, retention, community spirit, and individual and family well-being in a foreign environment.  
  • The CLO develops evaluation criteria and conducts periodic surveys to assess program efficacy.  
  • Based on analysis of formal and informal surveys, the CLO develops and implements a long-range program plan that outline goals to maintain and enhance morale at post.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of professional work experience is required.

Job Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of pertinent Department of State (DOS) regulations, programs, and policies, as well as Nigeria laws, practices, and mores is required.

Duties

  • Under direction of the Regional Cooperative Engagement Office (RCEO) Chief located in Morocco, but with minimal supervision, the incumbent persistently engages with a diverse array of senior and national-level officials in law enforcement, military, maritime, transportation, security, academic, human/animal health sciences and the private sector throughout DTRA'S Area of Responsibility (AOR) in Africa, to identify, mitigate, and/or counter complex Weapon of Mass Destruction (CWMD) threats.
  • S/he is the WMD specialist for Nigeria, but will also support on going activities in Liberia, Senegal, and Guinea of other ECOWAS countries as directed by the RCEO Chief in DTRA'S portfolio, and as such, will be required to provide accurate, concise and timely analysis and advice to DTRA Headquarters.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Experience:

  • Minimum of six (6) years (cumulative) professional work experience in one of the following areas: Military, intelligence, security cooperation, disaster preparedness/response, law enforcement, or public/animal health is required.

Job Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) issues, law enforcement and/or disaster preparedness/response. Good understanding of transnational crime and public health issues in Africa.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in one of the following fields of study: Public Health, International Relations, Business Management, Public Administration, Disaster / Humanitarian Response is required.
