Registrar at the National Institute for Sports (NIS)

The National Institute for Sports (NIS) was conceptualized in 1972. It was formally established in 1974 by the Administration of then Head of State and Commander in-Chief of Armed Forces of Nigeria, Gen. Yakubu Gowon based on the need by the government to improve Nigeria’s performance in international sporting competition. The Law granting its autonomy, Decree 31 was promulgated on the 8th of July 1992. The National Institute for Sports is a research and training Institute. It is a Parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports. The National Institute for Sports is situated at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, while the Athlete Development Centre is located at the National Stadium, Abuja.

Location: Surulere, Lagos

Office of the Registrar

• The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer and is responsible to the Director General for the general administration of the Institute.

Responsibilities

• Functions as Secretary to the Governing Council.
• Responsible for keeping all records of the Institute other than financial and medical.
• Issues all certificates of the Institute.
• Takes charge of the Registry Division.
• Functions as Secretary to all statutory committees.
• Keeps custody of the Institute's seal
• Performs any other functions that the Director General may assign from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience
Candidates seeking for the post should:

• Have a good First Degree from a recognized Institution and with a minimum of 15 years post qualification cognate experience.
• Possession of Master's Degree; Doctorate Degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage.
• Be registered with a recognized professional body
• Not more than 55 years old at the time of assumption of duty 4. Be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) 5. He or she must have occupied the position of Deputy Registrar for a period of not less than three (3) years in any recognized higher Institution of learning

Terms of Appointment

• The appointment is for a single term of five (5) years.
• The salary is CONRAISS 15
