Job Title: Research Executive

Location: Lagos

About the Job

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research and literature reviews on relevant topics related to our organization's mission and projects.
  • Develop research-based knowledge products for public dissemination, including white papers, articles, and social media content.
  • Manage external consultants on research projects and engagements.
  • Prepare reports of completed projects for publication in research journals, for presentation to the agency requesting the project, or for use in further applied or theoretical research activities
  • Oversee the implementation of special projects.
  • Provide weekly/periodic updates on Research activities.
  • Develop research plans, methodologies, and frameworks to ensure the collection of accurate and comprehensive data.
  • Gather, compile, and analyze data from various sources, including surveys, interviews, and secondary research, to derive actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand research needs and align findings with organizational objectives.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and visualizations that effectively communicate research findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of the latest research trends, methodologies, and best practices in the non-profit and relevant sectors.
  • Contribute to grant applications, fundraising efforts, and project proposals by providing research-based evidence and data-driven considerations.
  • Cultivate partnerships with institutions, research organizations, and subject matter experts to enhance our research capabilities.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Team Lead or Head of Programs.

Qualifications

  • First Degree in a relevant field, such as Social Sciences, Public Policy, Economics, or related disciplines.
  • Any discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 2- 4 years’ experience working in Research, preferably in the non-profit or social sector.
  • Strong proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, data analysis, and statistical software.
  • Proficiency in using technology and data visualization tools to enhance research outputs is a plus.
  • Experience in working with international NGOs, local civil society organizations, government, bilateral and multilateral donors in a multi-cultural, politically sensitive environment.
  • Thorough understanding of program management, donor reporting requirements and managing donor relations.
  • Extremely strong computer literacy skills with knowledge of SPSS and/or STATA.
  • Ability to conduct independent research work and to disseminate results.
  • Excellent understanding of HEEL related issues locally and global.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing research projects, including developing research protocols and data collection instruments.
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for accuracy and data integrity.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Passion for social impact and a deep commitment to the organization's mission.
  • Familiarity with relevant ethical guidelines and standards for research in the non-profit sector.
  • Ability to manage complex projects, workload, set priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to present complex issues in an accessible style, verbally and in writing.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Tableau and/or Power Bi, and Microsoft office productivity tools particularly PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Project.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant Nigerian public and private sector policies, programs, and initiatives.
