Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Plc - Headquartered in Ibadan is responsible for electricity distribution within the south western zone (Oyo, Ogun, Osun and kwara as well as some parts of Kogi, Ekiti and Niger states). Job Title: Technical Manager

Location: Osun
Job Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • This job role is to ensure expedited and optimal performance of technical activities in the Region. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the functioning of the technical team at the Region to ensure a high degree of performance by technical engineers. 
  • Implements various maintenance-related programs including routine, proactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance across Business Hubs.
  • Ensure technical assets and equipment are functioning optimally (transformers, cables, etc.)
  • Make necessary arrangements to manage the impact of network/station shutdown.
  • Ensures inspection, tests, and commissioning of new equipment at the site in conjunction with relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepares periodic and ad-hoc reports to relevant stakeholders. 
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to coordinate routine and specialized operations.
  • Ensures that technical operations are executed in compliance with safety rules, policies, and procedures. 
  • Monitors contractors to ensure that work or services delivered conform with IBEDC specifications.  
  • Perform any other duty as requested by the CTO/RH.

Job Requirements

  • A First Degree in Electrical Engineering; and a postgraduate qualification in power systems engineering or management fields are required.
  • Possession of certifications in Engineering is required; Membership in a professional body is required e.g. NSE. 
  • At least 15+ years’ experience planning, coordinating, and supervising technical operations within a utility or similar company.

Technical competencies:

  • Deep understanding of principles and practices of power distribution operations
  • Good knowledge of methods, materials, practices, and equipment generally used in the operation, construction, maintenance, and repair of electricity distribution systems.
  • Deep understanding of principles and practices of safety management. 
  • Good knowledge of technical standards/regulations and statutory requirements guiding electricity distribution systems. 
  • Deep understanding of principles of electrical instrumentation and mechanical installation, functions, and maintenance
