Job Title: Senior Principal Technical Database Developer & Administrator

Location: Completely Remote (Global)

Reports To: CTO / Head of Engineering

About the Role

• KloudOpp Limited is seeking a Senior Principal Technical Database Developer & Administrator to design, implement, and manage enterprise-grade database systems for mission-critical applications.
• This is not a standard DBA or developer role — the ideal candidate must be highly technical, capable of designing highly available, scalable, and secure database architectures, implementing complex stored procedures, performance optimization strategies, and leading database projects across distributed, cloud-native, and microservice-driven systems.
• Candidates must have verifiable experience in FinTech, Banking, Insurance, HealthTech, EdTech, or other core technology platforms, meet US senior-level technical standards, and hold advanced database and cloud certifications.

Key Responsibilities
Database Architecture & Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure database systems.
• Lead the implementation of relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases across cloud-native and on-premises environments.
• Develop complex stored procedures, triggers, views, and scripts to support enterprise applications.
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to integrate databases into microservices, data pipelines, and distributed systems.

Data Security & Compliance:

• Ensure databases comply with PCI-DSS, HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC2, and other regulatory standards.
• Implement backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and failover strategies.
• Conduct audits, vulnerability assessments, and access controls to ensure secure data management.

Enterprise Leadership & Mentoring:

• Mentor junior database developers and administrators on advanced SQL, NoSQL, and cloud database best practices.
• Lead architecture reviews, database design sessions, and technical workshops.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity, availability, and performance.

Performance Optimization & Monitoring:

• Conduct database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
• Implement real-time monitoring, alerting, and logging for database systems.
• Conduct capacity planning and database scaling strategies for high-volume, high-throughput applications.

Required Experience

• Candidates should possess relevant qualifications.
• 10+ years in database development, administration, or senior database engineering roles.
• Verifiable experience in FinTech, Banking, Insurance, HealthTech, EdTech, or core technology platforms.
• Hands-on technical expertise with:
  • Relational Databases: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL
  • NoSQL Databases: MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, DynamoDB
  • Cloud Platforms: AWS RDS/DynamoDB, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL/Bigtable
  • Data Engineering & Integration: ETL, data pipelines, API data access
• Experience with high-volume, mission-critical, and highly concurrent systems.
• Expertise in performance tuning, replication, sharding, and database clustering.
• Experience in cross-functional, globally distributed teams.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to influence engineering and product leadership.
• Must pass security and background checks.
• Must pass a rigorous technical assessment.

Preferred Certifications:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
• AWS Certified Database – Specialty
• MongoDB Certified DBA or Developer
• Security or governance certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM) are advantageous
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
• Google Professional Data Engineer
