Land-based Engineer Requirements, Skills & Qualifications

The following common skills and qualifications are required of a Land-based Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural engineering or any other engineering discipline.
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Ingenuity, to invent new designs or solutions
  • Ability to work in a team and supervise the work of others
  • An understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Good spoken and written communication skills
  • IT skills.
  • Awareness and understanding of the needs of those who use the equipment, particularly farmers and horticulturalists
  • Excellent business and management skills
  • A flexible approach, with the ability to work unsupervised and to adapt to a variety of different work situations
  • Capability to record and analyse data
