Urban and Regional Planner Duties & Responsibilities

The role and function of an Urban and Regional Planner includes the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare plans and studies
  • Conduct inspections
  • Planning the design and construction of new urban infrastructures.
  • Assisting in the management of a city’s current infrastructure and urban resources.
  • Designing and adapting city plans for population growth and development.
  • Prepare site approval documents
  • Coordinate with other local governments
  • Create and interpret maps and diagrams
  • Meet with public officials and the public regarding development plans and land use
  • Recommend approval or denial of proposals
