Nigeria Stability and Reconciliation Programme (NSRP) recruitment, 2012

The Nigeria Stability and Reconciliation Programme (NSRP) is supported by DFID/UKAID and is managed by a consortium made up of British Council, International Alert and Social Development Direct.
The programme seeks to deliver interventions to reduce the impacts of violent conflict and promote reconciliation processes. The focus will be on the national level and in eight focal states. NSRP is looking for committed and experienced individuals to join the senior technical team of this innovative and exciting programme. Experience of working on programmes in conflict-affected environments, either in Nigeria or other countries, is imperative for all posts. All post holders will be based in Abuja but wilt make frequent visits to NSRP's regional offices in Maiduguri, Kano, Jos and Port Harcourt and to all the focal states.



Job Title: Output Manager: Economics and Natural Resources
The Output Manager will lead the design and delivery of programmes to enhance the capacity and impact of institutions involved in addressing drivers of conflict around unemployment, environmental degradation and livelihoods in the states where the programme-is operating. This Manager will develop and manage relationships and partnerships with both public institutions and private individuals managing and regulating programmes on employment and empowerment, resource governance and environmental protection.

Qualifications: Candidates applying for this position must have a Masters qualification in International Relations, Development Studies, Political Economy or a related social science discipline, with at least 5 years experience of providing technical leadership in implementing projects and designing strategies in relevant areas (e.g. employment, natural resources). In depth understanding of conflict and peace building issues in Nigeria, especially the economic drivers of conflict and resource competition over land and oil and gas resources is critical. Excellent strategic, analytical and problem-solving abilities as well as the ability to manage partnerships are also required for this post.


Job Title: Output Manager: Security and Governance
The Output Manager will lead the design and delivery of programmes to foster better coordination, higher levels of inclusion, and greater accountability among individuals and institutions involved in conflict management. 5jhe will develop and manage relationships and partnerships with a wide range of individuals and institutions concerned with security, mediation, dialogue and reconciliation. Working with the Technical Advisers, the Output Manager will contribute to the overall development of 'best practice' in the design and delivery of multi-faceted conflict prevention programmes.

 Qualifications: Candidates applying for this position must have a Masters qualification in Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology or a related social science discipline, with at least 5 years experience of providing technical leadership in implementing projects and designing strategies around security and governance. In depth understanding of conflict and peace building issues in Nigeria, familiarity with rights, inclusion, gender equality and human security frameworks is critical. Excellent strategic, analytical and problem-solving abilities as well as the
ability to manage partnerships are also required for this post.

Job Title: Gender and Conflict Adviser
The Gender and Conflict Adviser will provide strategic leadership within the NSRP team and will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of the programme's gender strategy. S/he will provide technical support and training across the NSRP team, among partners and with external stakeholders to ensure that delivery across all aspects of the programme are informed by gender and conflict analysis and address gender discrimination. S/he will foster collaboration between NRSP and other groups working to address gender and exclusion in Nigeria.
Qualifications:
Essential qualifications include a relevant postgraduate qualification (Human Rights, Gender or Conflict Studies) and at least 8 years experience of working for a government, NGO or donor programme on gender discrimination, preferably in conflict-affected environments. Strong research skills, and experience in communication and advocacy is also important for this post. 

Job Title: Media Manager
 The Media Manager is responsible for providing strategic and technical management to deliver the programme's media activities 5/he will develop and provide technical leadership to ensure the implementation, monitoring and reporting of all media component activity at federal, state and local level.

Qualifications: Essential qualifications include a Masters Degree qualification in Mass Communication, Public Relations or other relevant social sciences and/or at least 5 years experience in broadcast or the print media. An in-depth understanding of conflict dynamics in Nigeria and demonstrable understanding of conflict sensitive reporting is required. Excellent contacts within the Nigerian media and the government authorities are also required for this post.

Job Title: Peace Building Adviser
The Peace Building Adviser will provide strategic leadershlp on the programme's peace building content. S/he will act as a focal point for
technical support and training to partners and external stakeholders in conflict sensitivity, conflict analysis, and peace building processes. S/he will ensure that delivery across all components of the programme is informed by conflict context analysis and conflict-sensitivity. S/he will also represent and ensure coordination between the programme and the wider peace-building sector in Nigeria.

Qualifications: Essential qualifications include a post graduate qualification in International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies or a related social science discipline, with at least 8 years experience of managing peace ouilding projects or programmes, project planning and impact monitoring. Demonstrable experience of working in partnerships with other organisations on peace building, and in providing mentoring and support to a range of actors is also required.
