Advice Worker Duties & Responsibilities

The role and function of an Advice Worker includes the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide a comprehensive advice, advocacy and information service to clients in person, over the phone and by email.
  • Explore with and advise clients of all options open to them and their possible effects.
  • Support clients to take action to resolve their problems.
  • Undertake follow-up work on behalf of clients including advocacy, negotiation and mediation with schools, letting agents, statutory organizations or other institutions as the case may be.
  • Accurately record details of clients and the actions taken on their behalf and maintain accurate client paper files as appropriate and manage a case list.
  • Make appropriate referrals to other agencies.
