Job Title: Account Trainee

Location: Ogba, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The Account Trainee will assist the accounting department with various tasks and projects, providing support in the areas of bookkeeping, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
  • This role is designed to provide hands-on experience and training in accounting practices and principles, aiming to prepare the trainee for a successful career in accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Entry and Record Keeping: Enter financial transactions into the accounting system accurately and timely, ensuring all entries are documented properly.
  • Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns and other regulatory requirements.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities, providing data and analysis as needed.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Support in managing accounts payable and receivable, including generating invoices, tracking payments, and following up on outstanding balances.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including posting journal entries and performing month-end and year-end closings.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Reconciliation: Support in reconciling bank statements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Audit Preparation: Help prepare documents and schedules for internal and external audits.
  • Invoice Processing: Process invoices and expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ad-hoc Projects: Participate in special projects and assignments as required by the accounting department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree / HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proximity to the location is important.
  • Only qualified candidate will be contacted.
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Internship or prior work experience in an accounting or finance role is a plus.

Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to details and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
