Ladkem Eye Hospital is a registered organization with the Lagos State Health Facility Monitoring Agency and the National Health Insurance Scheme as secondary providers of optometric and ophthalmologic services. The hospital was established since 1990, totally committed to quality and effective comprehensive treatment of eye problems.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Accountant
Location: Surulere, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

• Manage all accounting transactions of the hospital;
• Use quick books and other accounting software to prepare company accounts;
• Prepare budget forecasts for regularly purchased items so that they are supplied on time and changes in pricing can be tracked;
• Ensure a proper filing system for all matters handled;
• Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements;
• Advice management on any financial and monetary matters for the improvement of the organization;
• Maintain petty cash flow and records;
• Include under taxes, personal and company remittance on timely basis;
• Ensure prompt payment of staff pension deductions and documentation;
• Prepare staff salary payment schedule on a timely basis;
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the Chief Operating Officer
• Must be resident in Lagos State
• Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity by having proper documentation of income and expenditure and what items maybe bleeding cash;
• Audit financial transactions and documents;
• Publish financial statements for the year on time;
• Prepare daily income and expense statement in a timely manner;
• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable;
• Ensure timely bank payments and follow up and receivables;
• Compute taxes and prepare tax returns on time;
• Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary;
• Comply with financial policies and regulations and keep updated on all changes;
• Compute and compile HMO bills on a daily basis and ensure bills are delivered on monthly;
• Ensure all pending bills are followed up and settled;
• Liaise with auditors, customers to ensure bill collection and smooth relationship;

Qualifications

• Must hold BSc in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree;
• Must have 3 years work experience as Accountant;
• Must have hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks;
• Must have advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
• Must have strong attention to details and good analytical skills
• Additional certification (ICAN, ACCA, CPA or CMA) is a plus.
• Must possess excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
• Experience with general ledger functions;
