Job Title: Assistant Manager – Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)

Location: Lagos 
Employment Type: Full-time

Summary

  • The Assistant Manager, SHEQ, supports the company’s health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems
  • This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and corporate policies to maintain a safe, sustainable, and high-performing work environment.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of SHEQ policies, procedures, and management systems in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22310, ISO 45001, and FSSC 22000 standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations across all IMG Sites.
  • Oversee waste management, environmental sustainability initiatives, and documentation required for regulatory reporting.
  • Prepare and present periodic reports on SHEQ performance metrics and recommend improvement opportunities.
  • Ensuring that the quality of all IMG raw materials, processes and final product conforms with the IMG, Nigeria and international standards.
  • Maintain IMG certification to ISO 9001, FSSC 22,000 and ISO 22301 management systems in all IMG operational sites.
  • Ensure that the SHEQ leading and lagging indicators are met. Submit monthly SHEQ reports before the due date.
  • Coordinate incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive actions to reduce workplace risks and prevent recurrence.
  • Promote safety awareness and continuous improvement through training, toolbox talks, and internal communication programs.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Transport, and other departments to ensure adherence to SHEQ standards in daily operations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Holder of a B.Sc / HND with minimum of 5–7 years of relevant experience in SHEQ management, preferably within manufacturing, engineering, or industrial gas operations.
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, ISO 9001, ISO 22301, FSSC 22,000 Lead Auditor, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in SHEQ reporting tools and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to operational excellence.
  • Strong knowledge of safety legislation, regulatory compliance, and risk management principles.

  • Excellent understanding of safety culture and behavior-based safety principles.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in an industrial setting
  • Ability to travel on short notice across IMG sites in Nigeria.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with good reporting ability.
  • High ethical standards, integrity, and teamwork orientation.
