  • The purpose of the Shelter Project Manager position is to implement delegated Area Office Shelter project portfolio.The following is a brief description of the role:
Generic Responsibilities (max 10)
  • Line management for project staff
  • Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
  • Contribute to the development of Country, Area and Shelter strategies, initiate and participate in the development of relevant WaSH projects
  • Coordinate and manage Shelter project implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
  • Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Area Manager and the Shelter Specialist
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  • Develop and manage project budget (in cooperation with Coordinators) and coordinate across Core Competencies
  • Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
Specific Responsibilities:
  • These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly:
    • Restructuring of the unit, in line with NRC Nigeria strategy
    • Consolidating NRC operations in hard-to-reach areas
    • Capacity building of staff members
Critical Interfaces: By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:
  • Strategy and project planning: Area Manager and CC Specialists

  • NRC is looking for an LFS Project Manager for our area office in Maiduguri in Northern Nigeria. The purpose of the LFS Project Manager position is to implement delegated Area Office LFS project portfolio.
  • NRC initiated country operations in Nigeria in June 2015, in order to respond to the critical and increasing needs in the country. NRC currently has a full team based in Maiduguri and a coordination office in Abuja. NRC is currently providing services across various sectors namely; Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI); Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WASH); Food Security; and Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) in order to address identified humanitarian needs.
