Factory Manager (Mechanical Engineer) at Dogan’s Sugar Limited


Dogan’s Sugar Limited is incorporated in July 2013 in Lagos, Nigeria as a European-invested company for the will to produce quality sugar products in Nigeria. To start local manufacturing in Nigeria, our company has opened a new factory in Lagos and started its first commercial production in April, 2014 with a production capacity of 90,000 cartons (2,182.5 Metric Tonnes) per month. Our company applies the latest International food standards for food safety and quality (FSSC 22000). In production of Dogan’s Sugar Cubes, it is only used full automatic high-technology European sugar processing lines with zero hand contact with the product. As main raw material, we’re only using R1 grade granulated sugar with vitamin A.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:



Job Title: Factory Manager (Mechanical Engineer)

Location: Lagos

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Monitoring production process and ensure compliance with set schedule.
  • Participate in production planning and setting of production schedule.
  • Responsible for keeping the production output optimized and maintaining seamless functioning of all equipments and machinery in the unit.
  • Coordinating the maintenance team and assigning work areas to them.
  • Ensuring there is no breakdowns or disturbances in the production processes.
  • Ensuring that the machinery and equipments are being used to full capacity and that production is optimum.
  • Plan prevent maintenance and service activities in a way that it does not hamper the production process.
  • Conducting regular inspection and repair of breakdown machinery in the factory in a cost effective manner.
  • Analyzing production data to identify and resolve any production issues.
  • Manage production materials in a cost-effective way, and ensure minimal wastage is recorded.
  • Ensure occupational health and safety protocols are adhered to at all times.
  • Liaise with maintenance engineers for the maintenance of all machines, and ensure prompt repairs are carried out when required.
  • Ensure that safety norms and regulations are adhered to.
  • Keeping records of all service maintenance and refurbishing works carried out on the machinery
  • Regularly inspecting finished products to determine whether they meet established quality standards.
  • Ensuring that factory machinery is in good working order.
  • Collaborating with quality control officers to establish and execute quality control process.
  • Screening, recruiting and training new factory workers.

Competency & Technical Skill Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree / HND in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Proven experience in a managerial role in a cube sugar factory.
  • At least 7 years working experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
  • Sound knowledge of industry-specific factory equipment.
