Overview of Job Description

  • BA Ports Services is a company registered under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, providing a Professional Protective Agency service in the Nigerian maritime industry.
  • The Finance & Administration Officer will provide administrative and financial support to the company and all its projects. He/she is responsible for performing the day-to-day functions relating to office, accounting, banking, procurement, and financial management to ensure the success of the company.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the planning, organization, and management of the finance and administrative process of the company and its operations.
  • Responsible for personnel management and project planning activities as administrator and established financial management activities as the finance officer.
  • Responsible for maintaining internal controls to ensure the integrity of the organization's financial management.
  • Responsible for receiving and responding to client enquiries/queries, correspondence, and administrative duties.
  • Ensure timely completion of financial and other administrative audits.
  • Ensure that project expenditures are adequately tracked according to the agreed project budget in close coordination with the Operation Superintendents.
  • Schedule tax payments strictly on time.
  • Provide financial management support: Billing, Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
  • Responsible for payrolls and processing of statutory obligations/documents of the company.
  • Keep an updated and workable filing and documentation system for the company.
  • Ensure smooth husbandry services of clients’ vessels in close coordination with the operations superintendent and the company executives.
  • Monitor and report on accounting discrepancies.

Job Requirements
Must have at least, 80% of below skills:

  • A University Degree or Higher National Diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or Economics.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software, like QuickBooks
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (creating spreadsheets and charts and using financial Excel functions).
  • Good understanding of bookkeeping and filing procedures.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and Computer skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role with working experience in the maritime industry especially in Ship Agency.
  • Good organization, time management and scheduling skills.
