Job Title: Head, Budgeting and Control Group

Location: Benin, Edo
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Objective / Summary

  • To handle preparation of annual budget, analysis of financial reports and budget monitoring to enhance the bank’s business performance

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with the Chief Finance Officer and other management staff in the preparation of the bank’s corporate strategy and business plan
  • Approve payment vouchers and sign cheques for payments approved by management
  • Maintain the bank’s fixed assets register
  • Prepare the bank’s annual budget
  • Monitor the performance of the organisation’s budget for control purposes
  • Prepare variance analysis between projected and actual business performance and Synoptic Report.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by Chief Finance Officer

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Timeliness in preparation of Annual budgets
  • Timeliness of other reports generated
  • Degree of error in reports generated
  • Cost efficiency, measured by budget performance

Job Requirements

  • Education: A good bachelor degree / HND in a Business or Finance-related discipline. Professional accounting certification and MBA will be added advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a reputable firm or company

Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft office programmes

Job Title: Head, IT Solutions & Innovation

Location: Benin, Edo

Job Summary

  • The Head of IT Solutions & Innovation will provide technology vision and leadership in the development, management and implementation of an over-arching ICT strategy for LAPO.
  • The Head of IT Innovation will identify cutting edge ICT solutions to accelerate the achievement of LAPO’s goals, and recognize opportunities for using ICT to build connections across our organizational teams and functional areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify innovative technology solutions, explore how these could be integrated to support the implementation of LAPO’s programmes and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Keep up-to-date with latest technology and provide updates to the organization on how innovations are being used across different sectors, and how these can be applied in LAPO to deliver cost-effective technology solutions.
  • Provide strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation, and coordination of the information and technology systems.
  • Lead a team of IT staff, network administrators, software developers, infrastructure, application and systems administration etc.
  • Represent the ICT function at the senior level and contribute to overall organizational strategy setting.
  • Work with members of the executive and senior management teams bank-wide to oversee the management of change associated with implementing the ICT strategy.
  • Develop and oversee the budget for ICT.
  • Develop and execute a strategy for engaging vendors and partners for the achievement of organizational objectives. This includes building and leveraging a network of technology leads.
  • Facilitate communication between staff, management, vendors, and other technology resources within the organization.
  • Be responsible for the operational management of multiple information and communications systems and projects.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate the systems that support end users in the productive use of ICT.
  • Develop and implement user-training programs.
  • Overall responsibility of ensuring the smooth running of the core banking system
  • Develop and build internal capacity for the management and administration of the CBS and or systems in the bank

  • Ensure security of information technology assets, data, network access, and backup systems and supervise agreed audits to verify the security of internal and external systems

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, Experience
Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a relevant subject or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and / or education and training.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in a senior technology leadership role
  • Experience with project and financial management information systems.
  • Specific experience of technology strategy setting, change management, project/program management and financial information management systems is necessary.
  • Experience in leading and building distributed teams bank-wide.
  • Experience in leading complex and time sensitive ICT projects.
  • Experience in developing technology products directly and / or using technology in an innovative way to make change happen.
  • Applied experience in implementing innovative solutions to technical challenges

Skills:

  • Strong facilitation, consultation and convening skills and experience. Training experience a plus
  • Confidence in presenting to various audiences, in English
  • Excellent levels of spoken and written English and experience preparing reports

Job Title: Head, Digital Financial Services (DFS)

Location: Benin, Edo

Job Summary

  • To play a central role in supporting the team and partners to conceptualize, design and implement all the components of the Digital Finance Services.
  • Working with other colleagues for the implementation of projects to build the LAPO ecosystem
  • Engaging Financial Service providers (FSPs) and other LAPO partners to overcome key barriers to reaching final beneficiaries through digital solutions
  • Informing the regulators about technology solutions that can drive financial inclusion and support the developing of an enabling regulatory environment through creative initiatives such as introduction of new approach for licensing and regulating digital finance service providers among others regulatory initiatives related to DFS
  • Building an ecosystem that enables innovation in fintech/Digital solutions for financial inclusion.
  • The DF manager will execute the work stream through partnerships, relationship building and advocacy, and capacity building.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of the channels, products and services that Financial Services Providers (FSPs) can apply to deliver digital financial services
  • Maintaining an understanding of technology advancements, evolutions and innovations taking place in DFS space to lead skills development process within LAPO
  • Act as LAPO contact person for all activities relating to DFS
  • Coordinate all LAPO initiatives related to DFS including the assistance to LAPO partners to develop their DFS strategies through a business assessment of the challenges/needs/gaps, diagnosing the root problems and recommending optimal solution approach
  • Manage the engagement with financial sector stakeholders on DFS
  • Work with Technical Team in the preparation of partnerships involving Digital Financial solutions including the co-development and presentation, of proposals to the Investment Committee
  • Manage initiatives on change management/capacity building as they relate to DFS
  • Guide staff on technical areas as needed.
  • Additional Responsibilities as requested by the bank.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, Experience
Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in informatics, ICT related field, economics, finance, or business administration or related field preferred plus training in a DFS related field or honors degree with demonstrated experience in DFS at the leadership level

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant professional experience (private/public) sector and/or financial sector, and/or technology solutions for business and finance, in conceptualizing, driving and implementing initiatives.
  • Experience in coordinating and delivery of consulting services including proposal and report writing or conducting a DFS project in particular or a project in the digital sphere
  • Experience in strategy definition and execution.

Job Title: Head, Internal Control

Location: Benin, Edo
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • Reviews and assesses the effectiveness of the existing internal controls at the Finance and Accounts Department at the Head Office.
  • Review of the internal GLs of the bank.
  • Prepares the monthly reports of the activities of the unit to management.
  • Follow up on the outstanding issues on the reports prepared and ensure that it is fully resolved.
  • Ensure that the bank reconciliation statements are promptly prepared by the respective officers in charge and also reviewed.
  • Review and verify all payments made to vendors/suppliers for the services they rendered to the bank;
  • Review payroll before it is credited to the respective staffs’ accounts;
  • Ensure that the financial transactions posted by the respective users are called over. Exceptions observed during the call over process are reported and followed up in order to promptly resolve them.
  • Review of payment and receipt of funds from lenders
  • Review of money market investments made by the bank
  • Review of the monthly taxes and pension deducted and remitted to government agencies and the respective PFAs.
  • Review of other monthly deductions from staffs’ salaries to the appropriate accounts.
  • Review of reports sent to regulatory authorities
  • Review of income reversals/debits on income GL accounts
  • Training, coaching and mentoring of subordinates to enhance their competencies; and
  • Any other assigned duties

Requirements

  • Minimum of Master's Degree qualification.
  • 7 - 15 years experience.
