Stage 2: Technical Assessment:
  • Once you submit your application, you’ll be directed to study the modules on our Home Study Curriculum for software development and team skills. This is required to complete a technical assessment that will evaluate your knowledge of the content you’ve learned. No prior coding experience is required.
Stage 3: In-Person Interview:
  • Based on your application and technical assessment, you may be invited to a panel of interviews made up of staff members and developers at an Andela office.
Stage 4: Attend a Bootcamp:
  • Successful candidates are invited to participate in a two-week, simulated development sprint led by senior Andela developers. The two weeks is comprised of one week of home-based self-learning, and one week of product development on-site at an Andela campus. You’ll be expected to learn independently as well as on a team to deliver a final project. We’re looking for work ethic, passion, and teamwork.
Stage 5: Become an Andelan:
  • The highest performing participants are accepted into Andela’s four-year Fellowship Program. Over the course of four years, you’ll be immersed in intensive learning alongside some of Africa’s most brilliant minds. You’ll amass real work experience as part of global engineering teams. Your role will support the implementation of a variety of programs and initiatives that create a compelling employee experience for all engineers at Andela.   • You will act as a liaison for employees and managers, focusing on supporting and implementing people team programs. You will provide guidance and support on people processes, procedures and initiatives. You will collect qualitative feedback that assists the broader Engineering Experience team in delivering both exceptional partner and employee experiences.
  • This role reports to a more senior member of the Eng Exp team (Manager or SM)
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Work with Senior HRBP for your pod to manage communication and engagement especially with regard to change, providing clarity and transparency
  • Manage employee relations, disciplinary/grievances,
  • Genuine interest in building and maintaining relationships with engineers, partner engineering and the broader people team in service of creating a compelling employee value proposition
  • Support the implementation of engineering experience programs and initiatives through execution including retention strategies, performance management, recognition and reward, culture and connection, career development and advancement, onboarding
  • 1st point of contact for engineers on all matters including lifecycle events.
  • Able to resolve issues independently and minimize escalations, seamless transfer between you, people operations and partner engineering
  • Support partner engineering and (future management structure for engineers) to nurture a culture that rewards growth in critical skills, competencies and delivery
  • Connect engineers to learning and growth opportunities provided by TDD, amplify learning and development strategies and communications
Qualifications
  • Strong interest in leveraging data to inform decisions
  • Experience in a challenging, changing, complex business environment with a special focus on multiculturalism (and internationalism).
  • Passion for what you do, empathy in how you do it, discomfort with the things being just “ok”
  • Previous experience in coaching employees and management through moderately complex issues
  • Knowledge of in-country employment regulations, e.g. Country labor/employee relations statutes and capacity to apply them to Andela. Ability to adapt applicable Global labour laws into local practices as required. Experience with other East African countries is a plus.
  • Meaningful directly relevant experience as an HRBP ideally in a fast paced/dynamic start up or technology environment

  • Andela is seeking an HR business partner (HRBP) to support Andela’s scaling engineering experience group by being a trusted business partner to our engineers and partner engineering groups.  You will play a critical role in the design and implementation of strategic initiatives to retain and grow our most prized asset - our people!   • You will act as a primary point of contact for a designated engineering pod of up to 300 engineers and partner engineering team members, serving as a connector to internal functions, an advisor on all people processes, procedures, and initiatives.

Responsibilities Strategy Development and Implementation:
  • Work closely with the head of Engineering Experience to understand organizational challenges and design/implement creative solutions

Performance Management:

Qualifications
  • Significant and relevant  professional experience most of which should be in an advisory HR role

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, stellar emotional intelligence with a specific focus on self moderation, cultivating relationships and empathy.
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written, the ability to present and facilitate effectively. Storytelling via presentations is a strongly preferred skill.

  • Andela’s Talent Development department creates the required programs, curriculum, facilitation, and partnerships that ensure our developers meet Andela’s “developer specifications” in a timely, efficient, scalable manner.
  • We are seeking a Placement Optimization Services Manager who will partner with the Engineering Staffing department to smooth out the journey of getting our Engineers from ‘trained’ to ‘placed’. Because Engineers want to do meaningful (challenging, fulfilling …) work, it becomes very important that we are constantly optimizing for great placement outcomes by balancing between partner demand and talent supply. We are particularly looking for a highly experienced technical manager that will drive success around these by implementing programs and operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build and operate placement funnels that gets our unutilized Engineers to do meaningful work with one of our partners
  • Multi-stack our Engineers to better their chances of getting placed in some meaningful work through learning programs
  • Place our oversupply of Engineers into non-commercial Open Source products led by one of our partners

Requirements

  • Have at least 7 years of experience working in software product management, software development or technology consulting
  • Have at least 2 years of experience leading technical teams of more than 4 ICs at a time
  • Have a four-year degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field from an accredited university
  • Have experience effectively working remotely
