Job Title: Operations Coordinator (Mariner Preferred)

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Job Description

  • We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Operations Coordinator to join our team in Port Harcourt.
  • The ideal candidate is a qualified mariner with hands-on experience in vessel operations and compliance oversight.
  • The primary responsibility of the role is to keep every vessel fully certified, audit-ready and operationally efficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor day-to-day operations and vessel movements.
  • Manage and oversee crew members (crew change and welfare)
  • Coordinate surveys, dry‑dock visits and statutory renewals (Load Line, SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC).
  • Assist in incident investigations and corrective actions related to marine operations.
  • Enforce company SMS on board.
  • Produce daily vessel status reports and movement plans
  • Liaise with port, immigration and customs for speedy clearances.
  • Maintain a digital database of vessel certifications, inspection findings and action plans.
  • Report KPI performance (OVMSA, on‑hire readiness, audit close‑outs) to management.
  • Support vessel compliance with ISM/ISPS/MLC codes and internal company policies.
  • Schedule and facilitate OVID inspections, ensuring vessels meet OCIMF requirements.
  • Manage and track Class and Flag State certifications for all vessels in the fleet.
  • Support vessel audits and inspections, ensuring full compliance with client and industry standards.
  • Liaise with classification societies, flag states, port authorities, and clients on vessel documentation and operational requirements.
  • Track class renewal windows (ABS, BV, DNV, RINA, etc.).

Requirements (Education/Training/Experience)

  • Certified Mariner (Master/Chief Officer or Engineer license preferred).
  • Solid understanding of ISM Code, OCIMF guidelines, SOLAS, MARPOL, and other maritime regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to coordinate across teams, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in marine operations, offshore logistics or vessel coordination.
  • Designated Person Ashore (DPA) is an added advantage
  • Proven experience handling OVID inspections, Class certifications, and marine audits.
