Job Title: Senior Data Modeler

Location: Lagos, Nigeria (Remote)
Employment Type: Contract

The Role

• We are looking for a top-notch professional with knowledge and hands-on expertise in the area of data modeling who is able to design models (conceptual, logical, and physical) that reduce data redundancy, streamline data movements, and improve enterprise information management.
• The Data Modeler will work collaboratively with the data architect, data engineers, data analysts / BI specialists, DBA, IT, and business units to help address the business’ data and analytical needs.
• The data modeler will design, implement, and document data architecture and data modeling solutions, which include the use of relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases.
• These solutions will support enterprise information management, business intelligence, machine learning, data science, and other business interests.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the development, publication, and maintenance of the conceptual, logical, and physical data models
• Be responsible for the design of operational data stores (ODS), data warehouses, data marts, and data lakes on target platforms.
• Oversee and govern the expansion of existing data architecture and the optimization of data query performance via best practices.

Requirements
Must have skills:

• 3+ years of hands-on relational, dimensional, and analytic data modeling experience (using RDBMS, dimensional, NoSQL data platform technologies, and ETL and data ingestion protocols).
• Excellent knowledge and experience with SQL
• Good knowledge of metadata management, data modeling, and related tools is required.
• Highly experienced working with databases and ETL/ELT technologies.
• Proven experience in designing dimensional data modeling from scratch
• Proven experience in core data modeling methodologies (e.g., Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault approaches)
• Experience with data warehouse, data lake, and enterprise big data platforms.
• Knowledge of data lake storage file formats (e.g., Parquet, JSON, CSV)

Nice to have skills:

• Azure (Synapse, Data Factory, etc.)
