  • Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for Senior MEAL Officer to be based in Abuja, Nigeria.

About The Role

In this role you will be:

  • Actively participating in the design and development of concept notes and proposals.
  • Working with the Extenders in gathering updated situation analysis information/data regularly on the status of the use of Zinc in the treatment if diarrhea in children, Vitamin A supplementation coverage and Iron and Folic Acid supplementation for pregnant women as well as the status of work by organizations involved in provision of these services in NI focal project states via state and national surveys and other data sources.
  • Guiding and supporting State Program Coordinators/Extenders in collecting routine monitoring data using tools to be developed at HQ/RO level and make sure results are compiled and used for monthly and quarterly progress report.
  • Enhancing capacities of state teams as well as NI program staff including extenders on M&E planning and implementation, reporting requirements, indicator definition, and use of data tools through formal and on-job training approaches.
  • Leading routine data quality assessments (DQAs) in collaboration with state coordinators and government staff and ensure development and implementation of data quality improvement plans.
  • Representing NI in relevant internal and external for a including technical working groups at the FMOH or NPHCDA and other stakeholder fora at national and county level.
  • Tracking IT equipment in Africa Region during their lifecycle as per the relevant corporate policies.
  • Providing technical support to program staff, and state MOH and SPHCDA officials in implementing the program M&E framework, as well as utilization of data for program improvement.
  • Tracking program output and outcome level results on regular basis in close coordination with FMOH and state offices using DHIS2 and other data points and secondary data from partners to triangulate results to monitor project progress.

About You

  • You will have a MS / MA / MPH degree with more than 5 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation within health and development projects, preferably in nutrition interventions.
  • Specific proficiency in excel and access.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, teamwork, report writing and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of common statistical software packages, health information technologies, software applications, as well as web technologies including DHIS2.
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis. Well versed in knowledge of the Nigeria’s health system.
