First Independent Power Limited (FIPL) is a Power Generation company located in Rivers state with 4 simple gas turbine power plants with a total capacity of 541MW.

Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired FIPL.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Job Responsibilities

• Supervision of routine maintenance measures in mechanical and optimise equipment lifecycle cost
• Approve expenditure within the limits of approval
• Plan resource requirements for maintenance of mechanical functions - manpower, materials and contracts
• Ensure high availability of mechanical systems
• Minimise cost of maintenance of mechanical maintenance section and quality norms
• Ensure availability of spares and other infrastructures for maintenance of mechanical systems
• Prepare periodic report for the attention of the Station Manager.
• Conduct performance review of subordinates
• Coordination with shift operations for ensuring efficient plant operation
• Ensure compliance with procedures relating to documentation and record-keeping of equipment history

Skills / Qualifications

• Required Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• NSE/ COREN
• Minimum of ten (10) years of work experience with at least three (3) years at supervisory level and direct exposure to mechanical generators and power plant maintenance processes.
• Knowledge of modern maintenance management practices and spares inventory management
• Effective Leadership Skills
• Effective Communication and Reporting Skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites
• Interdisciplinary Knowledge of Electrical, C&I and Civil Maintenance
• Work Experience: Proven experience in a power plant.
• Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various complex problems
• Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
• Sound knowledge of power generation processes
