With an established network of recruitment offices - including an office in Lagos, Nigeria - Kaplan helps students enrol onto academic programmes run in partnership with our affiliate universities. Kaplan has been working with the University of Liverpool since 2007, supporting recruitment onto undergraduate and postgraduate pathway courses delivered at the University of Liverpool International College.

Job Title: University of Liverpool West Africa Representative

Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Employment Type: Full- time

The Role

  • The University of Liverpool is seeking to appoint an experienced representative to exclusively represent the University of Liverpool in Nigeria, Ghana and in other key West African markets, promoting the University to prospective students and managing day-to-day recruitment activity on behalf of the University.
  • The representative will engage with students, attend events and build the University’s profile across West Africa, primarily in Nigeria and Ghana.
  • The representative will take a lead role in supporting applicants through the recruitment and admissions process, with a focus on conversion at key points in the recruitment cycle. The representative will establish and maintain relationships with recruitment agents, schools and colleges, funders and scholarship bodies and other similar organisations in the market. 
  • The representative will be based out of Kaplan International’s offices in Victoria Island and will report to the University’s Associate Director of International Recruitment and the Deputy Head of International Recruitment (Postgraduate), working closely with colleagues in the International Recruitment team in Liverpool, as well as associated teams (such as Admissions and Alumni). The representative will also have day-to-day support from the Kaplan Regional Director. 

Main Responsibilities and Duties

  • Build and develop student recruitment channels to deliver sustainable growth in suitably qualified undergraduate and postgraduate students to the University of Liverpool and its joint venture campus in China (XJTLU)
  • Proactively support each student as they progress through the recruitment and admissions journey, to ensure maximum conversion from initial application to final enrolment  
  • Ensure student records are used effectively and updated on the University’s CRM system in collaboration with UK-based colleagues to provide accurate enrolment forecasts (based on application status) 
  • Liaise with colleagues at the University to progress applications and ensure a quick and efficient turn-around of enquiries and applications, prioritising as necessary to maximise conversion.
  • Liaise closely with a range of colleagues in the International Recruitment team and acts as a key contact for this offices’ staff and other University personnel visiting the region.
  • Contribute to the development of on and offline marketing content, including social media and presence on relevant online media; and also contribute to the development of marketing messages and collateral development to support the University’s international recruitment.
  • Liaise with Alumni to develop a system for best utilising local networks focusing on recruitment activities and advocacy.
  • Represent the University to a wide range of audiences, including potential students and their families, staff in schools, agents and partners  
  • Develop close relations with key recruitment agents, secondary schools, universities, and other educational and commercial bodies (including sponsoring organisations), in order to explore all recruitment opportunities  
  • Provide regular update reports to the Associate Director and colleagues in the University, covering recruitment activities, agent engagement, social media marketing campaigns and overall progress towards recruitment targets 
  • Share market intelligence with the University in order to raise awareness of potential opportunities and / or barriers to recruitment across the region   
  • Deliver outstanding levels of customer service at all times.
  • Frequent travel across the region to develop recruitment channels and to raise the profile of the University.

Candidate Profile 

  • Educated to Degree level.
  • Applicants must hold the right to work in Nigeria.
  • Background in and passion for international education recruitment  
  • Track record of recruitment to UK universities, with excellent knowledge of the UK education and visa system.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, self-motivated and committed  
  • Must be ready to travel extensively throughout the region.
  • Flexibility with working hours including working over weekends when required 
  • Experience of customer relationship management software is desirable 
  • Experience in studying, living or working overseas or representing an international organisation is desirable.
  • Proficiency in the use of Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of West African secondary and higher education systems.
  • Ability to communicate well with a wide range of audiences.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated team player.
  • Goal-driven and results oriented profile.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadline, to meet challenging targets
