Federal University Gashua (FUGashua) is a university based in Yobe State, northeastern Nigeria. It is a learning and research institution that seeks to solve the immediate needs of society and give every person the opportunity to acquire knowledge. In its Education Sector reform and development, the Federal Government of Nigeria, in 2010, approved the establishment of twelve (12) universities in the six geopolitical zones of the country. This was to expand access to tertiary education for Nigerians.

General Requirements

Open to Nigerian citizens aged 18–50.
NYSC discharge/exemption certificate is required for senior positions.
 

Teaching Requirements (Summary)

  • Graduate Assistant: First Class degree.
  • Assistant Lecturer: Master's degree or 2:1 + certifications.
  • Lecturer II: PhD or Master’s + publications.
  • Lecturer I: PhD + 3 years experience.
  • Senior Lecturer: 5 years experience + publications.
  • Reader: 8 years teaching + research.
  • Professor: 20 publications + 12 years experience.

 

Non-Teaching Staff Requirements

REGISTRY DEPARTMENT

Deputy Registrar (CONTISS 14)
A good honours degree in Humanities or Social Sciences plus at least fifteen (15) years cognate post-qualification experience, a considerable part in a higher institution (preferably a University). Must be a member of a Chartered Professional Body and computer literate.

Principal Assistant Registrar (CONTISS 13)
A good honours degree in Humanities or Social Sciences plus at least twelve (12) years cognate post-qualification experience, preferably in a University. Must be a member of a Chartered Professional Body and computer literate.

Administrative Officer (CONTISS 8)
A good honours degree in Humanities or Social Sciences plus at least three (3) years cognate post-qualification experience in a higher institution. Candidate must be computer literate.

Executive Officer (Administration) (CONTISS 6)
National Diploma in Public Administration, Business Administration, or Local Government Administration plus at least three (3) years cognate experience.

Assistant Executive Officer (Administration) (CONTISS 5)
National Diploma in Public Administration, Business Administration, or Local Government Administration.

Senior Confidential Secretary (CONTISS 8)
• HND in Secretarial Studies/Office Technology & Management (OTM) plus three (3) years post-qualification experience;
• OR ND in Secretarial Studies/OTM plus six (6) years post-qualification experience.

Confidential Secretary I (CONTISS 7)
• HND in Secretarial Studies/Office Technology & Management (OTM);
• OR ND in Secretarial Studies/OTM plus three (3) years post-qualification experience.

Porter I (CONTISS 3)
SSCE or equivalent with four (4) credits including English Language.

Clerical Officer (CONTISS 3)
SSCE or equivalent with four (4) credits including English Language.

BURSARY DEPARTMENT

Deputy Bursar (CONTISS 14)
A good degree in Accounting with at least fifteen (15) years cognate experience plus membership of a relevant Chartered Professional Body. Must show ability to formulate financial policies and produce accounting manuals.

Chief Accountant (CONTISS 13)
A good degree in Accounting with at least twelve (12) years cognate experience plus membership of a relevant Chartered Professional Body. Must demonstrate ability to implement financial policies and produce accounting procedure manuals.

HEALTH SERVICES

Senior Medical Officer I (CONMESS 4)
MBBS and nine (9) years post-registration qualification (MDCN).

Senior Medical Officer II (CONMESS 3)
MBBS and six (6) years post-registration qualification (MDCN).

DIRECTORATE OF WORKS & PHYSICAL PLANNING

Senior Quantity Surveyor (CONTISS 9)
Good degree in Quantity Surveying, must be registered with QSRBN plus six (6) years cognate experience.

Principal Engineer (Electrical) (CONTISS 11)
Good degree in Electrical Engineering, must be COREN-registered plus nine (9) years cognate experience.

Driver II (CONTISS 3)
SSCE with three (3) credits including English Language AND a valid ‘Group E’ Driving License plus Trade Test Grade II Certificate and four (4) years cognate experience.
