Safehands Educational Consultants Limited is an international education consultancy based in Nigeria (with its branch address in Ibadan, Oyo State). The company was founded in 2019. Its mission is to help Nigerian (and other African) students access quality international degrees, effectively bridging the gap between students here and universities abroad. Services include: career counselling, online programs consulting, admission processing, visas & immigration services, and student visa support.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:



Job Title: Student Counselor
Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Student Counselor will guide prospective students through the process of choosing suitable study-abroad destinations, programs, and institutions.
  • The role includes counselling, application support, follow-up, lead management, and ensuring students receive excellent service from enquiry to enrollment.

Key Responsibilities
Counselling & Advisory:

  • Provide professional counselling to students in the UK, Canada, Australia, and other study destinations.
  • Assess students’ academic backgrounds, interests, and career goals to recommend suitable programs.
  • Explain admission requirements, visa processes, documentation, fees, timelines, and school policies.

Marketing & Promotions

  • Represent the company at school fairs, webinars, and promotional events.
  • Support social media campaigns and share study-abroad information when needed.

Internal Coordination:

  • Work closely with the admissions and visa team to ensure smooth processing.
  • Provide weekly reports on leads, conversions, and student progress.

Application & Documentation Support:

  • Assist students in preparing and submitting university applications.
  • Guide clients on statement of purpose (SOP), CV, reference letters, and required documents.
  • Follow up with schools and students to ensure timely submission and updates.

Lead Conversion & Client Management:

  • Manage leads from Hotjobs, WhatsApp, Instagram, referrals, and walk-ins.
  • Follow up consistently via calls, messages, and emails to convert enquiries to paying clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of all interactions and progress.

Education Requirements

  • Minimum of an OND / B.Sc Degree
  • Additional certifications in counselling, customer service, or international education are an added advantage.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong counselling and advisory ability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and CRM tools
  • Ability to work independently and meet targets
  • Customer-centric mindset
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to understand student needs and recommend suitable programs
  • Strong follow-up and conversion skills

Other Requirements:

  • Must be smart, teachable, and able to learn quickly
  • Must be able to multitask and work under pressure
  • Must be punctual, professional, and reliable.
  • Must be comfortable with phone/video counselling
  • Must have good command of English (written & spoken)

  • Salary: N100,000 per month
  • Commission-Only
